I got accepted into ULL and went to tour and all that. It was a really good school and I personally enjoyed it. I also got a letter in the mail from USM on Friday saying that I was an alternate. I haven't heard anything out of LSU health yet. I've been trying to get in touch with someone over there, but it seems impossible. Is anyone else going to ULL?

I still haven't heard from USM or LSU Health!  Ugh!!! lol

Still waiting on USM! Can anyone help me out weather wise what it is generally like in Louisiana and Mississippi for the seasons? I have no idea what types of coats etc. to bring when I move. Also if anyone could help me out with BR in terms of good places to live it would be extremely helpful! I've looked at the Woodlands and Tiger Manor, was wondering if they were as good as the Google reviews online etc.

I would bring anything for any type of weather.  Louisiana weather is so unpredictable!  The Woodlands is mostly undergraduate students and there's often a lot of parties there.  Most graduate students live in Lake Beau Pre and Tiger Manor is also a good place for graduate students.  And Tiger Manor also has it's own transportation to campus.

I just received an acceptance from LSUHSC New Orleans! Has anyone else? I have got to find some roommates. I have zero connections in New Orleans and a little worried about my living situation!

I am also concerned about my living situation and have no connections in New Orleans.  I have been looking into the school affiliated apartments/dorms, but I was moved from the waitlist to accepted today so I am worried that it is too short of notice and all the spots are gone.  Have you found anything helpful regarding your living situation?

How safe is Tiger Manor? What other apartments are good around LSU? I've looked at Stanley Burbank and Campus Crossing which both seem safe and nice. Most of them just seem really overpriced.

It's pretty safe.  It's gated.  I lived around that area when I was in undergrad and I never had any issues.  The Venue is a good place.  Highland Village is a good place too.

I haven't heard anything yet from LSUHSC.  Did they interview you?

I haven't been interviewed at all and I haven't gotten a letter at all.  Ugh.

Congrats on your acceptance!

ColeYoly, how did they contact you? Email? Also, did they give you any kind of timeline of their admissions process?

Yay! I know, I'd like to visit as well, but for me I either go here or not go anywhere so the choice is simple! From what I see online of their program, it seems like it has everything I am looking for- research opportunities, diverse clinical opportunities, and a relatively small class size. I did some poking around on Craigslist and there seems to be a ton of decent and affordable housing options around campus, at least compared to housing costs around ASU where I am at now. AND BR is home to Louisiana's only Trader Joes so I could totally live there. ;) I'm also very excited about football season. I heard tailgating gets crazy!

Have you gotten any information since you accepted like classes and such?

Not yet! They told me that an acceptance letter from the graduate school was on its way but that hasn't come yet. I wrote Ms. Abadie about grad assistants hips but I haven't heard anything back from them yet. Will probably be emailing to,or row to make sure they got my postcard accepting the spot in the program!

I was accepted to the LSU Philosophy MA program, but currently on a wait list for funding. Professor Shufreider let me know recently that he should have a better idea of funding within the next few days or so, so fingers crossed.

I think you're in the wrong forum.  This is a forum for Speech-Path.
