  1. When I was applying, my undergraduate program made it very clear that they just look at the first three they receive. They don't look at any other letters they get after that. So I would assume other graduate programs would be the same.
  2. If you already think you can do better than you did before then I would go ahead and retake it. If you don't want to retake it again- because your scores are fine - you could always apply to a school or two that are less competitive. I just noticed that the list you are gave of schools you are applying to are all pretty competitive for SLP grad.
  3. Hey! First off, good luck to you when applying to schools! I personally, had similar stats and was heavily involved in the field with research and volunteering and outside of the field. I applied all over the country last year also. I applied to ten schools total, got waitlisted at maybe three and was accepted to one off of the waitlist which is the school I currently go to. Its not going to be impossible for you to get in but I think it will be challenging. I thought schools would look more at my experience in the field which was extensive for an undergraduate but I think they look more at the numbers most of the time. You should definitely apply but do your best to have a great SOP recommendations. To be honest, and I know this is so hard to do, don't stress. If you don't get in and have to take a year off, it will be ok. Most people in my program had at least a year in between undergraduate and graduate school and applied twice. If you have any questions let me know, I'd be happy to answer them
  4. For those of you looking at bilingual programs, Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio is good another program which offers a bilingual focus. There are also some opportunities there to have Spanish speaking clients.
  5. Hi! Joyanna, where are you thinking of applying? I currently go to Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX and love it. The best thing about my program is that I can begin clinicals my first semester. I think its great to be able to begin dipping my foot in the water and begin seeing clients now. It gives me the opportunity to see a larger variety of clients during my graduate career. Probably the worst thing is the same. You're thrown into clinic right away and during the first few weeks for sure, you feel like you have no idea what you're doing. I think that's how most graduate students feel though.
  6. Isn't that essentially what a waitlist is? There's no room in a cohort so you're on the waitlist until a spot opens up?
  7. Don't give up yet if you're still on some waitlists! I was rejected from nine schools with only two waitlists and I just got off of one yesterday! I had already started applying for other jobs! Everything will work out for the best, and you might even beat the odds and still get into grad school this cycle!
  8. Has anyone gotten off a waitlist anywhere today? Holding out hope!
  9. I've heard some of your notes are really beneficial for graduate school. I've personally laminated all my notes from SLP classes and plan on keeping them for a while
  10. tkay2010 , Have you heard of anyone else hearing anything from Hampton yet?
  11. I'm waitlisted at both University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Our Lady of the Lake University and would really like to get off of the waitlist for at least one of them, however I'm not sure what my chances are. When I contacted both schools, I was told they were unranked at the time, which doesn't provide me much information on what my chances are.
  12. Has anyone gotten off of a waitlist anywhere yet? I guess its still early since it's before April 15 but I was hoping some people may have gotten off already!
  13. j_rae that's what I'm thinking too. I also think that by doing this some people may take themselves out of the applicant pool for regular decision.
  14. I also haven't received anything which worries me since they sent out a notification to some applicants about making a video. I did email them last week though and they said they would send out notifications by the first week in April (which is this week).
  15. MJ422, that's very helpful! Thank you!
