MKrys Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I was refused. I wish they'd give a reason why. So I will be at American or GWU in the fall. More expensive but hey they're both top ten IA schools! Congrats to everyone who got in! And best of luck to everyone acceptance or no! Sade1122 1
Maeva Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) My application was refused. But congrats to all of you guys for your acceptance Edited March 22, 2016 by Maeva
joyfuli Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Accepted too! But with out any funding. This sucks
Yooni Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 congratulations to those who got admitted! I was refused, but I'm happy to hear my brother who also applied was accepted. So it made me feel a little bit better. I'm going back to bed... Again, Congratulations. And those who didn't get in- CHIN UP!

For those denied, sincerely wish you all will end up in the best fit program for you. The admissions process is not fun/easy, but ultimately we (not institutions) define our own destinies *hugs*. Finally, if there are any other lonely waitlisters out there please give a little shout out! Edited March 22, 2016 by seaglass0025
reddog Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Congrats to everyone who was accepted! I was refused. Luckily the attacks in Brussels are giving me a reality check There is not much else on my mind right now.
that_girl_from_tororo Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I was refused. Congrats to everyone that made it!!
GirlFromToronto Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I was refused as well. Sad about it but congrats to everyone who got in. Luckily I have 3 other schools to choose from that actually want me but regardless congrats! and for those of us who didn't get in perhaps it was not meant to be.
Gradschool22 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I was also refused, but after the long wait I was ready to accept any decision. I am surprised by how well I am actually taking this! Perhaps this is for the better. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!! Make the most of you time in Geneva and take advantage of all the opportunities the school offers you! For those like me who didn't get accepted, everything happens for a reason and I believe that there are other institutes that will be a better fit for our goals and help us achieve them. Either way, it was nice getting to know you all. You are all extremely smart, diverse and dedicated people. All the luck in the future!!
vanatrick Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I was accepted to the MIA but without funding. I probably won't be able to justify paying all of that $ when schools in Canada are offering me quite a bit of funding...
LuminousLion Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I was accepted! Pretty shocked by this whole grad-school process, as per the standards that all of these schools listed, I was sure I wasn't a strong candidate. For those wait-listed, I remember lurking in a thread similar to this one where several of the main contributors had been wait-listed. I know that at least one of them decided to wait it out and was eventually accepted. I think this option is really only available to people without alternatives however, as you have to wait beyond most decision deadlines to know whether you can attend or not. I know another person that applied the first time, was rejected, and took a year off to do an internship abroad through a connection they had with their undergrad institute. They applied again and got in. So I think if this is THE program you want to get into, you CAN get in. Anyways, I hope this info is useful to some of you - I was prepared to do both. I will most likely be accepting, and I look forward to meeting those of you who will also accept! Take care everyone, Peter GirlFromToronto 1
Kay_p Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 It was nice to have everyone here supporting each other during the excruciating wait. Whether accepted or not, each one of us here will all find an option that works out for the best. Wish everyone the best! Gradschool22 1
ilmk92 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I have to say I'm so grateful to you guys for being such a great support system during the 3 months of excruciating wait period. Now it has become a natural habit of mine to check this forum at least twice a day to see if anyone has written.. honestly I would have lost my sanity waiting without your support, sharing of useful information, frustration & hope & most importantly, encouragement ! A HUGE thanks you to all Just out of curiosity, did anyone get in with a full scholarship? And for those who plan to attend without a scholarship, how do you plan to finance your studies there? unagi Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Got into MA Dev Stuies! Meow I'm just picking between LSE and IHEID. No funding from either school :/
emilysuter Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Congrats everyone who got accepted! i've been accepted to the MIA program and was really surprised to see that this morning! I'm just curious, how did they decide who gets a scholarship? I just don't understand what criteria they use. I'm not sure if I'll be accepting my offer because I'm not sure if living in Geneva is something I can afford. So, does anyone know anything about affordable housing arrangements? More than 500CHF would be very difficult for me to afford and it doesn't look like there's much available in Geneva under that price. ALSO, is part-time work easy to find for someone whose French isn't the greatest (B2 level)? ** I haven't posted much on this forum but I've been lurking almost everyday haha CONGRATS again to everyone and I (hopefully) look forward to meeting you all**

I also got accepted without funding I have lived in Geneva for 4 months as part of my Internship, and affordable housing is very difficult to find. It will be hard to find flats that are under 500CHF, but if you apply to the Foyers, or students houses (AHEAD OF TIME), you may have a chance. Try checking out St. Boniface-- http://www.cstb.ch/sejours-academique-2/?lang=en or the different Foyers. Foyer St. Justin was 690 CHF though. I think there is a all girls one in the old down by the cathedral and it was cheaper. Keep checking and keep applying! Or another option is to live in the French part, like the ferney voltaire It's actually not that far from IHEID. Maybe like 15 minute bus ride. Part-time work really depends on what kind of work. There were several offerings i saw posted. Some of them required French, some of them didn't. I think it depends.

Wondering whether the thread you were following was specifically in regards to IHEID or some other program? From my understanding, the waitlist situation varies from school to school. Also, it seems like (after scouring through past threads for the school) not many people get waitlisted at all.

I read a pretty unhealthy amount of comments on it when I was applying to schools. I believe there were a few wait-listed. I'm not really sure how many really do get wait-listed, but you're probably right, it's not too many. Hope that helps.
Kickingand creaming Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 For some reason I still have not received any feedback. I applied for the LLM. Is anyone else having this problem?

LauraLyCe Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Hi everyone! I was accepted for the International Law LLM, but still have not received any news on the scholarhip, anyone having that same issue?
XMGL Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Hello everyone!! I can't believe I just found this forum! I was on the past one and thought I was banned as well... Congratulations to all the admitted and for the ones that weren't I'm certain that each of you will find the perfect program and please do not stop pursuing your dreams! It was a real pleasure to meet you all! I got admitted to the masters in International Law program but without a scholarship. Funding has become a real problem... But remember there is a chance that if we apply, we may get scholarships for the second year, though its definitely not a sure thing. Getting a part time job at campus or somewhere else may be a solution. I'm sure we will all find a way!
