I really need to make a very quick decision between MS in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M and UPenn. The deciding factors are the program quality, job opportunities, tuition and fees, etc. Also to be taken into consideration is the high tuition at UPenn. But then, there's the Ivy School tag that comes with UPenn and the low tuition at Texas A&M.
It would also be great if you could discuss the assistantship scenarios in these schools.

To get information on the job opportunities, tuition and fees, and assistantship scenarios, you really need to be in contact with the department itself. The current grad students or your prospective advisor should also be able to give you some insight into the assistantship scenario if you ask them.

I doubt the higher cost of UPenn is worth it in the long run though it depends on what your career goals are.

You're right. I'll contact the respective departments for these. My career objective right now is to complete my Masters and find a decent chemical engineering job in the field of manufacturing or processing. Don't want to go for a PhD right now. What I heard about UPenn was that the region near Pennsylvania has a higher number of pharmaceutical jobs lately. How true is this, according to you?
Also, what would you do if you had to choose between CMU and TAMU? CMU also has a high tuition rate compared to TAMU.

There are a lot of pharmaceutical companies in the Philadelphia area (UPenn) and in the Pittsburgh area (CMU). I'm less familiar with the TAMU area because I've never lived or traveled near there. But, just having companies nearby doesn't guarantee that you'll have better opportunities.

I'm not really interested in the pharmaceutical sector. In fact, I am much more interested in the manufacturing or processing areas.
I went through the courses, research areas and general facilities in the department for both CMU & TAMU. There isn't much lacking in both the schools (except for the tuition). Now, I really feel caught up in making a decision between these two.
