I'm relocating to the US for my master's degree. I want to make a few travel plans in advance, but am finding it kinda hard. What happens where I'm from is, we have domestic websites where you plug in your location, destination and flight dates, and you get a list of all the relevant flights from airlines serving that route. Tried googling similar websites for the US, but haven't managed to get any concrete results.

So if someone could share a list of domestic US airlines, or a website that works along the same lines, either would be really helpful.

Thanks! =)

Have you come across Kayak.com or Skyscanner.com in your search? Those are two popular airline flight search engines.

Google Flights is my new favorite way to search.

Hipmunk is another option in addition to what the others said.

About 2 years ago, I made a mistake using Hipmunk by not realising that picking an outgoing leg limits your return leg options. Now, I believe the site does the two searches separately, so you can pick any two combination.

Just one quick tip about one American airline in specific. Don't be amazed about the prices offered by SpiritAirlines, they're usually the cheapest in the west side of the US, but they will charge you fees for having hand or checked bags, so just be aware of that. They also charge for water during the flight and the seats are not the most comfortable.

TL;DR If you're flying with SpiritAirlines, just expect to get what you've paid for.

My experience using Google Flights is that they try to get you to book the same airline for the return. ITA Software, at least in my experience, has been more flexible with allowing different airlines on separate legs of the trip.
