coyabean Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) On that OTHER board someone posted a link to creating wordles (http://www.wordle.net/). Being obsessed with all things applications it's an awesome time-waster, er, visual representation of your SOP. Can be interesting to see if you communicated what you meant to communicate. Mine: Yours? Edited January 28, 2010 by coyabean
LifeIsGood Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 My computer wouldn't let me snap an image, but the two biggest words were "research" and "professional," followed by "teaching." That'll do.

Mine: Yours? Coyabean, the open tabs and folders in your screen shot are telling! This is a cool idea, I'm going to do one when I get to my own computer.

BCHistory Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Question: How do all of yours not have words like "the," "of," "a," etc., as the largest? When I did mine, those were, by far, the most used words.

coyabean Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 under the 'language' tab, you can choose to leave out common english words is that how you guys got all the pretty colors, too? so envious.
intextrovert Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Haha, I am said "someone" on "that other board" that nerdily posted the SoP Wordle idea! Just swooping in and taking credit. And posting mine here, too, because you just can't have enough Wordle! P.S. Coyabean I am secretly really pleased that you enjoyed this as much as I did.
Lauren the Librarian Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) This is awesome. Thanks for the link. I played with the "randomize" button and found how different fonts and colors suit my SoP better than others. Awesome, awesome... Edited December 31, 2009 by Lauren the Librarian
jlee306 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 This is really cool! How in the world do I upload mine on here though?
Summit_Bid Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I still don't get how to upload my wordles either. Anyone have instructions?
intextrovert Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I still don't get how to upload my wordles either. Anyone have instructions? Sure! When you have the Wordle, take a screen shot of the window and save it. Then upload it to photobucket or another of those free photo uploading sites. That will give you a link, so when you hit reply on here you can select the little "insert image" icon and just type in that link.
Summit_Bid Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Thanks for the instructions! It worked. Here are my two SOPs:
George Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Ooooohh, this sounds interesting!!!! I'm getting wind power and geography in racialized communities in the South? That made me laugh so much!
