Issue Task:

"A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college"

School curriculum should be designed to equip the students with required skills and knowledge that will help them gain confidence to enter college and eventually, see success in college.

Having single national curriculum across the country helps students from different schools attempt the preliminary exam,  conducted by the government, in order to enter college, in a fair manner. A student or a teacher, wishing to move to a different city within the country, can do it, without worrying about the curriculum which is going to be the same across the country.

Sometimes, students spend time learning some field that they have no interest in and they would be passionate to study a totally different field in college.

Students from different schools with different curriculum could result in, getting challenged with different levels of difficulty to complete senior high school before entering college. This could lower quality of students because they were exposed to an easy curriculum and not letting their explore their full potential or help them grow their ability to learn to solve medium to complex problems. Therefore,a nation should require all of its students to study single effective national curriculum that is designed to equip the students with required skills and knowledge that will help them gain confidence to enter college and eventually, see success in college.

Argument Task:
The following is  a memorandum from the business manager of a television station.
"Over the past year, our late-night news program has devoted increased time to national news and less time to weather and local news. During this time period, most of the complaints received from viewers were concerned with our station's coverage of weather and local news. In addition, local businesses that used to advertise during our late-night news program have just canceled their advertising contracts with us. Therefore, in order to attract more viewers to the program and to avoid losing any further advertising revenues, we should restore the time devoted to weather and local news to its former level."

This argument is flawed for numerous reasons. Primarily, the argument is based on the unwarrented assumption that the complaints from the viewers concerned with station's coverage of weather and local news is about the late-night news program which mostly concentrates on national news.

The argument fails to provide any justification that local businesses reason for cancellation of advertising contracts with the television station in the argument presented is only due to their late-night news program that has devoted increased time to national news. It is possible that economy is down that the local businesses are executing cost cutting strategies or simply that local businesses were introduced some efficient low cost alternatives for advertisement.Had the argument provided additional information that could prove the cancellation of advertising contracts by the local businesses is due to late-night news program it could strengthen the argument.

The argument also leaves many other unanswered questions. The argument vaguely mentions about the complaints regarding the station's coverage of weather and local news. Because it doesn't indicate whether the coverage of weather and local news, should be increased or reduced. The argument also assumes to attract more viewers by restoring the time devoted to weather and local news. It is possible that number of people watching the television could simply be reduced due to numerous other factors that doesn't have anything to do with the content broadcasted.

Because the argument makes several unwarrented assumptions, it fails to make a convincing case that by restoring the time devoted to weather and local news to its former level could attract more viewers to the program and could improve the advertising revenues.

Thanks a lot in advance for your time helping with your valuable feedback.
