wnk4242 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Hello everyone! I applied for PhD programs this application cycle. I just received an email from APA informing me that my poster proposal has been accepted for the APA 2017 conference. I wonder if I should email my POIs or the program directors about this? Any advice? Edited January 23, 2017 by wnk4242

BeezKnees Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I don't think it would hurt at all to email your POIs and the grad department to give them an update. Worst that can happen is they say no. PurpleTurtles and wnk4242 2
Clinapp2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 My poster at a well known speciality conference won a student award (1 of 5 awarded amongst hundreds of posters). I'm also an undergrad, so that's a pretty big accomplishment. The conference was conveniently before my apps were due, so when I emailed POIs about turning in my app, I also mentioned the poster/award and how that really reflects upon my lab and mentor (trying to be humble because honestly my mentor could have crushed my soul if he wanted to). I've received 6 interview offers so, anecdotally, I would say it doesn't hurt. wnk4242 1
fuzzylogician Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 You have nothing to lose by trying, worst that could happen is they'll say it's too late to replace the CV with a new one. It's unclear how much it'll help, but you never know. I'd send the update, if I were you. wnk4242 1
