coffeewalk Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 @emilyf413 I haven't personally rented zipcar, but I have friends who have and liked it for things like weekends away.
Leeannuhw Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 LA native here with an input on the driving situation. As mentioned before, Culver City/Santa Monica are convenient places to live if you don't have a car. I would also recommend Little Tokyo and Silverlake area. The Metro is also expanding into SF Valley so if you're really in a budget, that's a good option. I also know people who live farther out in El Sereno and use public transport into DTLA everyday. HisGrace Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 hey guys! I was admitted to sol price for an MPP on 2/20. If I have yet to hear anything about fellowships, its safe to assume I did not receive one?
coffeebean13 Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 My immediate answer is yes. The letter on the online portal just said I was admitted. I then received a packet (same day as when I received the notification that my status had changed) which had an additional letter explaining my fellowship. If you received your packet and did not get a letter outlining any fellowship/scholarship given, then I would assume you did not get anything. Of course, emailing the contact given would be the best way to be 100% certain. They usually respond pretty quickly. Best of luck!
Dreadfulbard Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Anyone else attending the merit scholars event on 3/31?
coffeewalk Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Yep I am @Dreadfulbard. Where else are you considering?

beefmaster Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 They are running the same event on 7-8 April. Can't make the merit event so will be attending the 2nd one.
coffeewalk Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Who's attending the Dean's Merit Event tomorrow? What kinds of info are you hoping to get from tomorrow's session? What are you choosing between?
beefmaster Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Can I ask that people who attend put a quick write up or send me a PM with your thoughts? I can only attend the normal admitted students day unfortunately and I don't want to miss any information for the dean's merit scholars. I am deciding between Fletcher, GT, SIPA, SAIS, and USC.
7jai Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 For those who got the 50%/100% full tuition scholarship, congratulations!! I wanted to ask what is your profile to get that type of scholarship? Did you have a high GPA and also alot of work experience? Or is the evaluation different for each candidate (ie: low GPA, but a wealth of good work experience)? Thanks and congrats again!
7jai Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Could anybody share their merit scholarships details? What was your GPA, work experience etc?? What did the USC committee value and look for?
