Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone who has been to an interview day for Speech-Language Pathology program at CSUSM could share a little about what to expect. Unlike other school, their interview process is 4 hours long and the faculty just told me that I have to stay for all 4 hours. They didn't tell me what to expect or what to prepare for. Did anyone else get an invitation to CSUSM knows anything about their interview process?

Any insights are welcomed! Thank you!

Hi! I received an invite as well.

Unfortunately they have changed their interviews so much over the years I don't know what to expect. It seems like every year something is different. I know there is a writing portion and most likely a group and individual interview.

Thank you for the insights! Is the group interview like PBL format?

I'll be going to the interview too! I remember reading somewhere that there was a group project and a writing assignment. In the email it says we might receive additional instructions. I'm hoping we do. Super nervous too!

I called CSUSM today and the lady said she can't tell us what to expect. She just mentioned that there are different parts to the interview.

Guess it sounds like we are going in blind...

There was a girl at my school who interviewed and was accepted there from the previous cycle. She mentioned a writing prompt, and group + individual interviews from what I remember.

Thanks for the heads up!

Also I remember her mentioning that one of the things they asked her regarded counseling. How you would break it to, speak to, and address parents on their child's communicative disorder. Not sure if this was her writing prompt or if she was asked that as an interview question. I guess just be prepared for behavioral questions!

It looks like there are two different rounds of interviews-- some people have one that starts at 8 am and some people at 1 pm.

Mine is from 1-5. My friend and I were planning on carpooling until she asked me "Should we leave at 7?" and I got super confused. Although strangely enough, the subject of my email says "Morning Interview Session Details," I'm guessing by mistake.

I heard from someone that they were tested on anatomy and phonetics 3 years ago? Do you know anything about this?

My interview is from 1-5pm. Really excited, but nervous. I've also heard it isn't a typical personal interview, but instead knowledge based.

Unfortunately every thing I know I've shared in this thread. The applicant I know was from the last cycle (Fall 2016).

I did not apply to CSUSM, but a friend of mine applied two years ago and she said she was tested on anatomy, language development, and basic definitions during her phone interview.

They've changed it drastically year to year so I can't even say what to expect, ya know? Last year is literally black and white from the year prior.

I would hate to be in your guy's shoes right now. This interview sounds so scary.. BUT BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE. I'll be here in my corner worrying about a much less intimidating interview coming up this Friday :)
