Open Houses

I was invited to an Open House at Missouri State University when I was accepted. I have not chosen what school I will be attending yet, but I would like to attend the open house to get a feel for the program and meet the staff. Do you think it is ok to attend the open house before committing to the program, or should I accept the offer of admission first?

Absolutely go check out the open house before committing. Let them "woo" you. I am doing the same thing with a school I am accepted too. Especially if it's something that you've never experienced, definitely go!!

Go go go! The point of the open house is to let admitted students get to know the program better so that they will end up choosing the program

You don't have to commit before going to an open house! It's a chance to get to know the school, current students and potential students!

Definitely go before committing I'd say! I'm attending one at the end of March, before I make a decision, since I haven't visited the school yet. On the topic of open houses, does anyone have suggestions on what to wear to them (casual/professional/in-between)?

I'd say business casual is good. Just avoid blue jeans I think. I wore black jeans to a few open houses. And comfortable shoes so you don't have to worry when you go on tours.

Hm. What about in the case that you haven't heard back yet from the schools who have invited you to go to the open house? Is it advisable to go or not?

I would go if you were invited! It would be a chance to meet the professors so they can put a face to your name. Will you be hearing from them before the open house?

I'd definitely go if you're interested in the university.

I honestly have no clue! Some people have already been notified about decisions from Adelphi but I haven't yet. The open house is in May so it's possible that my decision will be out by then..
