No Florida for me. Oh, well. I still have a lovely offer and two outstanding. And frankly, I didn't really want to live in Gainesville anyway.

Yeah, Florida is lame. I would pick Chapel Hill over Florida anyday! :)

It's raining results today, over here.

I'm in a Tulane: 3 year fellowship, health insurance, tuition. It's my first choice, and I'm BY GOD TAKING THIS ONE.

It's a freaking miracle.

Congrats! That's really exciting that you got into your first choice with a great financial package! I guess all the worry and waiting is over for you now you can sit back and relax! :D

Rejected by Cornell Archy. It's OK. I got promoted at work, so if nothing turns up I have a job.

Blueskies, did Cornell notify you via email or a normal mail? I haven't heard back from them ever since.

By postal service. Same old 'we had many qualified applicants, you were not among the accepted.'

So nobody has heard from archaeology at UCLA yet? I'm not too hopeful, but they do accept on average 19% of their applicants, compared to 11% for Anthro.

I hate waiting.

Just one school let me in!

I'm cultural, finishing up a masters here at LSU and waiting to hear back too. I heard that Tulane already made their decisions but no word from them as of yet. I also heard Berkeley already picked and it was brutal. One of my good friends had two professors fighting for her and she didn't get in, but they called her to let her know what was going on. Apparently they had 5 spots, the chair claimed 3 of them leaving 2 for the rest of the profs to fight over. Tenure won out (as usual) so if you were in contact with the chair or a prof that had been there forever you might be in. But I wasn't so I'm not even considering them anymore.

I applied to Chicago too so I'm a little worried since people are already hearing back. I just want to know where I'm going to be living in 6 months!!

Hey Firedrops aka next door office buddy! :)

Yay! It's Monday! Business and mail resume!

(It's sad how excited the grad school application process has made me about Mondays . . . scary really)

This is from the waiting it out folder, where I posted. But this gives archy news and a question:

OK. Time to judge a communication.

I spoke with the graduate secretary today (should I have called the chair?) at UCLA for archaeology. First I asked about transcripts, and she said it was her mistake and then blah blah. So then I asked when we should be hearing. She said some interviews were scheduled and if I was among the accepted I should hear this week by email and if not she is "sorry." She said the last part like in a sad voice. Is this bad? Do you think she knows? I am so scared now! This was my top choice along with Stony.

Ack!

It doesn't really sound to me like she knows, that seems like something she would tell everyone. Either way it sounds like you'll know by the end of the week. Good luck!

Not into Arizona. Boo. Hopefully one of my other four choices will take me. I'd go anywhere I get an acceptance at this point!

How did you check your status at Arizona?

I logged in to the Graduate School application and there was a notice that the department hadn't recommended me...no email, no letter yet, just the posting on the application website.

Gah, further assistance needed. I logged in but don't know where to look... It says my application is submitted but nothing else.

So, I think if you go to the Graduate College website and log in where you originally submitted your online application (not the department-specific application), you should be able to look at your active applications (on the left-hand side). That's how I found it, and as soon as I was into that section there was a message regretting to inform me that I was not recommended for admission.

Nor was I accepted into the IDPAS program at Stony Brook, as I found out via good old fashioned mail today. My balloons keep popping! Wasn't too keen on living on LI for the next 4 years, though, but that eases the pain only slightly...

Has anyone here applied to UC Irvine Anthro? Any news yet???

Yes, I applied and it's my first choice...I haven't heard anything yet. :\ I'm kind of worried, but I don't know if I should be because I haven't heard anything about people getting notified yet! Have you?

Didn't see anything there. My application is still active, I guess. I'm just waiting for UA to reject me, though not in anthro.

Ugh. So I dropped my phone in a puddle today and now it's not working. So of course I'm freaking out because what if a school calls!? (yeah right) Oh well, hopefully I can get a new/working phone tomorrow! I really hope that I hear from some more schools soon! The stress of waiting is frying my brain!
