Dear Grad Cafe,

I'm a career changer and interested in research in the area of diseases, specifically viruses, bacteriology and epidemiology. I was wondering if an MSN or an MPH would be appropriate. I'm interested in working with the CDC. The Epidemic Intelligence Service requires a Medical degree, so I guess MSN would be the better route fpr tht. However, I wondered if anyone could advise me.

I have been given admission to JHUSON for the MSN and have been given admission by GWU for their MPH program.

Advice, guidance, suggestions welcomed please.

I personally think you should pursue Public Health. From the sound of it, your interests is in disease epidemiology and you might benefit from an MPH because your learn Biostats, Epi, Health Behavior, etc.

Have you thought about getting an MPH and a PhD?
