SLPihope2B Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Hi quick question about rounding your GPA. I know that is it is bad to round your GPA up, however is that only if you are rounding to the tenth place? Ex. my GPA is a 3.857, is it ok for me to round to a 3.86 on my resume? I feel like 3 decimal places is not a common way to represent your GPA
zurako Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 It's such a small decimal place that I don't think it will be an issue!
kotatsumuri Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 I would strongly advise against this - you should report your GPA exactly as is. There are other schools who use 3 places after the decimal so whether or not it's common really shouldn't be an issue. I have worked in an undergrad career office and have heard of someone having a job offer revoked because they rounded their GPA up (pretty sure it was rounded more than you're asking about, but it's just the principle and you shouldn't take the chance).
futureSLPhopefullylol Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Write it the same way it is reported on your transcript
Southwestspeechie Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I agree with most of the above posters, even if it's such a small round up, I wouldn't do it. You could always write it as 3.85, if you didn't want to have all three decimal places. It's a great GPA either way!
