Hi quick question about rounding your GPA.

I know that is it is bad to round your GPA up, however is that only if you are rounding to the tenth place?

Ex. my GPA is a 3.857, is it ok for me to round to a 3.86 on my resume? I feel like 3 decimal places is not a common way to represent your GPA

It's such a small decimal place that I don't think it will be an issue!

I would strongly advise against this -  you should report your GPA exactly as is. There are other schools who use 3 places after the decimal so whether or not it's common really shouldn't be an issue. I have worked in an undergrad career office and have heard of someone having a job offer revoked because they rounded their GPA up (pretty sure it was rounded more than you're asking about, but it's just the principle and you shouldn't take the chance).

I agree with most of the above posters, even if it's such a small round up, I wouldn't do it. You could always write it as 3.85, if you didn't want to have all three decimal places. It's a great GPA either way!
