Nice to know that even if I get rejected, I was a competent applicant. I might print that out and put it on my fridge because it actually makes me smile.

March is going to be the month for me also. For the programs I applied to, most tend to respond later than other programs. One school has sent me email saying that a decision is going to come March 1. However, it is possible that the bad news could linger into April.

I been checking the results page every 6 hours just to see if there are any good news to be had, unfortunately there are none. *le sigh*. Considering I have my comprehensive exams in 2 months and I haven't heard a PEEP from any of the schools I've applied to (Except for WashU), I haven't been studying well because I can't stop thinking about whether I'll be in school and deferring my student loans, or avoiding the loan collectors for the next few years! I think my brain has just frozen up in despair and if I don't hear any good news I think I'll be permanently immobilized.... grrr. WTF is going on people??? I only like, have to plan out the rest of my life within the next few months, thank you very much! As well as fend off my parent's quest to find me a "real" job.

Ya know, I was thinking early March would be "it" for me, but I found out today that I have an interview (with my 2nd choice school) on the 18th. MARCH 18th!!!! Damn. Guess that means I won't hear from them until April.

I'm hoping that I'll hear back from my #1 choice SOON (they promised early March), and that I won't have to even bother with that interview.

Like many of you all have said, I'm seriously, physically having a hard time keeping it together during this waiting period. Acid reflux, headaches, lack of sleep... the works. Trying to stay busy with yoga, cooking, and other calming things that keep me from pulling my hair out and attacking those around me. PLEASE let this be over soon!

FYI: My department's adcomm is just now getting around to looking at applications. (I got my acceptance the first weekend of March last year.) So if you've applied to less-prestigious schools, there's a possibility you aren't getting a reply because they haven't looked at your folder yet.

I joked with one of the admins at the department that I'm applying to that it would be cool to see if this waiting game can last all the way till May! Then I realized that my joke made me feel quite a lot better because I can channel the waiting into nervous energy, or... OR... it can become a hardcore endurance event and I can internalize the hardship I'm going through as a seriously crazy regime that makes me incredibly tough (like Rambo or something) and I can have fun trying to turn the tables on the whole thing.

Kind of like watching a horror movie, and instead of getting scared, I sometimes just get all aggressive and imagine challenging the slashers at their own game. Now who's scared??!! You don't come on my property with a scythe and expect me to run upstairs! No! I'll meet you in the front lawn with a scythe of my own! YEAH! Take until June for all I care, baby!

So I've jumped 50 times today (once for every random email), checked the results pages 5 times and checked the school's websites 4 times...

I'm not getting very much done at the office while I chew my fingers off. The fingernails were last week, this week it's the fingers. Sigh.

On the positive side, I see a few of you (and others) have gotten a letter or two this week -some of them acceptances too. Congrats! I hopefully the rest of us won't need a topic "April is it!!!"
