Successful. I will be declining to accept SSHRC. Some people have said it's impossible to get off the waitlist for OGS. I don't know why that is when so many people decline for SSHRC or to go out of province. I would like to think that declined awards actually do go to those on the waitlist otherwise why bother having a waitlist?! Good luck everyone!

Received my letter today after an anguished wait. Awarded CGS. 21 point something /30 waitlisted last year. Score increased by 4 whole points this year. 1 peer review pub handful of conferences just completed first year of PhD What changed this year (from my application last year) was my proposal (entirely new topic) and a different referee.

Some figures from last year's competition 2011-2012 that includes both SSHRC and Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS. http://www.sshrc-crs.../index-eng.aspx 402 direct submissions. 93 made the A list and 59 were awarded a scholarship. 4,567 university submissions. 1, 814 made the A list and 1,026 were awarded a scholarship 430 applicants for foreign study. 130 made the A list and 104 were awarded a scholarship. Total applications 4,969. 1,907 made the A list and 1,085 or 57 percent were awarded a scholarship. Regardless of one's specific category, the odds seem pretty good if you made the A list. eliasg, I contacted Vanier to enquire about the discrepency with my ranking and what was on the website and was informed that this year it was not 55 to 56, but just 50 that were selected by each granting agency.

This year only 50 applicants were selected for each agency. Such a shame!

Congratulations to everyone who was nominated! I wonder if anyone who was nominated by their university would be willing to provide some details about their application. What kind of community/leadership activities have successful nominees been involved in? What is their current area of research and how accomplished are nominees in regards to publications etc.
