  1. Huge congrats. Vancouver's a darned great place. On a side note, I do agree that having nothing is certainly better than a rejection. But people (or maybe it's just me) tend to just sit around and "hope" for admission. Where we should be making plans for the sensibly possible outcome of getting rejected, and instead sorta brush the thought of rejection aside because it's too unpleasant.
  2. Exactly as it sounds: they're still reviewing. You can call and ask them about your status.
  3. I checked up on them. They're not. What they told me about my application was that it is waiting for one more review and it would probably be ready for next week. They sound really tired though.
  4. No man. We can't stay in this bubble any more. You shouldn't either.
  5. Nope. Waterloo and Mcgill. I thought something's gonna happen today. But still nothing.
  6. Nope, I missed Alberta and UBC(ECE, though that's an interesting story in itself). Waiting for Waterloo and Mcgill. Though I gotta say, Waterloo seems sort of like a "slow" school (I know the statistics say otherwise) to me. I'd much prefer Mcgill. Though maybe that's just my location bias talking.
  7. I have the impression the same goes for Mcgill and Waterloo. Don't you think?
  8. Looks like you were right. I've started making plans for the less desirable scenario (of being rejected).
  9. Looks like you're probably right. I got a reply along these lines from the email I sent Mcgill last week: There are too many applicants. We hope to have decisions by the end of April.
  10. We might hear something though. Weeks leading to 15s are usually somewhat significant.
  11. I managed to called them too. Couldn't get anything more than you did.
  12. Called them yesterday again. Didn't pick up. No answer for the email either. The number can be found here. https://www.cs.mcgill.ca/people/staff. Call Diti.
  13. I called them yesterday, they didn't pick up. I'll try again today and see what happens. It looks like they're reviewing applications and sending decisions as they go based on the fact that I'm seeing people having gotten rejected yesterday. Though it might be that they're only sending definite rejections right now.
  14. And do they actually give reasonable non-general answers to the "am I admitted?" sort of question? They always seem to avoid the question when it's asked.
  15. Hate to admit. But it's the same here. It's like everything's on hold. I have no idea whether that's normal for a domestic applicant or not. It's like we're walking around an alien and we're afraid he might eat us because of something random we do cause he just hates it for no reason. Nonetheless is it ... normal to call them up?
  16. I did send them an email. Though I doubt there will be a response before the end of the week. We're probably gonna have to wait till the end of the week(friday) for news on the decisions. Maybe even next week. Any brave souls volunteering to call them up?
  17. That's true. But only if you got a resume that shines on its own and so gets noticed quickly. Otherwise you'll fall in the later batches of admittees and naturally you'll have a lower chance. A friend of mine did have this bright resume and he was even contacted by professors who he hadn't listed as potential supervisors. Now I had listed one of these professors as a potential supervisor and he hadn't heard of me until I contacted him a couple of weeks ago. So it definitely does make a difference. But you sound like you're gonna be ok guitarHero.
