  1. I will also be more than happy to provide advice or information regarding the application process, especially with Harvard’s Systems Biology. I am also an international student. Please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have
  2. I was in the exact same position last year. Both my PIs asked me to continue with a Ph.D at my current university in Colombia (after finishing my M.Sc). Luckily I have a very good relationship with both and I just told them that how I trully felt. I did both my undergrad majors (ChemEng and Microbiology) and my M.Sc at the same university and I really wanted to experience my PhD at a different university, if only to get to know different technics, skills and research approaches. They both respected and understood my arguments (they actually ended up agreeing with my choice to not continue with my PhD there and encouraged and advised me to apply to specific grad school) and we continue to have a very good rapport, we are currently working together and they gave me excellent LoRs (I ended up accepted in Harvard xD). My advice for you will be to be honest with your current PI and more importantly with yourself. Applying to multiple grad schools is very common, but I think that it may only serve as a temporal solution. Best luck with your decision and with your applications.
  3. Boston is also really expensive...But I think Harvard's stipend is really good. UW is also great and for you and your wife it might be the best choice
  4. Heading to Harvard SysBio xD Sooo thrilled xD
  5. Hey nermah1, Yes, I do think that it would be very helpfull for all international students.
  6. Any of you know about taxes??? I am an international student and was offered an stipend of 2880 USD/month but I heard that it would be substantially reduced after taxes and as I am planning on housing and living expenses I would really like to know how much taxes I have to pay.
  7. I know it is maybe more than a little bit early, but is any of the newly Harvard admitted students already planning on housing ?? If any is interested in a roommate PM me.
  8. Me too I hope to hear back from them soon.... I think they are my only option as for now.
  9. Only for some of the programs. I know for a fact that for other programs the results are due in the next couple of weeks.
  10. I interviewed 2 weeks ago at Harvard SysBio and I really loved the program and faculty there. They are my very top choice (and so far maybe the only one). Should I email the faculty with whom I interviewed??? I don’t want to be pushy, although I have already send a “thank you” email to the program coordinator.
  11. When are you going to Harvard SysBio interviews? I am going this weekend (Traveling tomorrow xD)
  12. I don’t think so... It is more likely to be around 50% (At least for SysBio)
