  1. Was your North Texas admittance official...or did you hear it from a POI or through the backchannels?

  3. This is the credited response. Period lol
  4. My dream school would be anywhere a strong political economy emphasis is. However, I am open to a school that provides strong training, good professors, adequate funding and supports their students. That is good enough for me. lol
  5. Well I believe the majority of graduate programs deadlines have passed..i think a large percentage of them have Jan. 15 deadlines if not earlier. Should only be a couple more weeks! I have decided to be optimistic and take some classes that may aid in my future research (Econometrics & Mathematical Econ.). Hopefully I get a chance to actually do future research :/
  6. I guess you all are right. My main issue is with business in general, at the end of the day it is a for-profit venture. And thats fine now while I am young, but i would actually like to do something with meaning where I can maybe change things or help people.
  7. I looked at it. It is really tailored towards people already working who want an extra degree to up themselves in the job market. In terms of working it for a PhD, it is an APPLIED program..you need something theoretical.
  8. So I have a question for the forum. I love political science and research. Id love to be a professor and even work in a think tank, fed. gov or policy or even corporate strategy at a corporation. So I can think of quite a few ways to work a PhD in Poli Sci. Issue is, I may have an opportunity to go back into the previous field I was in (think banking/real estate/technology) and get a MUCH better job than I did. I am having the issue of justifying the opportunity cost to myself. I would be giving up 250k (assuming 50k X 5 yrs) for about a 40%-50% chance at getting a job most of which pay 40k-60k (assistant prof). I guess how much is the love of the subject/becoming a political science professional worth to everyone? Forgive me if this is worded bad, in a hurry lol
  9. If I get into the school I really want to go to...well I will be quite thrilled and take all the accolades that people will give me about how I am so smart. If I get into a safety, then I will smile to myself and decide whether its worth the risk.
  10. Thanks for the link and you are right. We are all in this together, whether people go to Harvard or University of Bob lol.
  11. So someone posted an acceptance to Texas A&M or UT on the results bored.. If its real, congrats!!!!!

  13. Why torture me by having the head of graduate studies in the department email me and say things are missing or have there been any changes. I was doing so good to this point and just forgetting about everything

  15. My grandma used to tell me "Watched Pots Never Boil" I think that applies to PhD Admissions and Email checking also lol
  16. Fricking ETS...i paid $150 and had my scores sent twice and I am getting emails from schools saying they never received them..smh On the other hand, programs are looking at my applications!
  17. Spring Semester starts next week for me, which will be a welcomed distraction.
  18. I wish political science did interviews, looking at the results, seems to be a lot of movement for other disciplines
