The first note we got was one week, and that was the weekend after the initial list went up. I saw the "two weeks" thing at the beginning of last week, therefore, I am hoping that we will find out by the end of this week. If not I'll just pretend it never happened, and go back to life as it was :|

Yeah, whatever. Heard that before, and from faculty. Yet here I am waiting to hear if I have an HM or an award, so failure is not an option. Pick on someone your own size :wink:

Yeah, and it's making me more depressed as time goes on. I have papers to finish writing for the semester, and a lot of other work to do. So I am going to TRY to stay away from here til Monday at least, maybe not come back til the end of next week. :::sigh::: As if we weren't already crazy enough ....

I am a grad in a three-field department, but I did my undergrad in a four-field, and I miss it. When you hit grad, other than a mandatory survey course in the other sub-fields, you really don't take courses outside your immediate discipline. I found myself taking courses in the linguistics department because officially I'm a cultural but most of my previous work included linguistic. We have no interaction with the students in the other sub-fields, and that's a tough one. We bonded as first-years, and then we never saw the others again. It's almost like they don't exist. I think if I'd known we didn't do interaction with the others I might have gone somewhere else to school, actually.

FAFSA just deals with your eligibility for the financial aid. Check with your finaid office and they can direct you to the proper site, which would be whoever holds your loans. The paperwork has to be filled out with the loan maker, and then the school sends them proof that you are indeed attending/about to attend, which will defer your payments.

Yeah, that's me. When I was certain I'd get a rejection it wasn't so bad. Now that they are saying it's either an HM or a cash award, I find myself very impatient and dreaming about what i would/could do with that funding. The first thing I'd do is give away all my ramen noodles

I wrote an eligibility essay, and I'm one of the limbo people right now. I have a master's degree already, and am in my second year of PhD. I switched from a liberal arts school to a research intensive R1 university for the PhD, and it seems at least they thought this had merit, since I'm still in the game.

It's a very nice sum of money for three years plus tuition - if that's not heaven, it's close enough.

Wait, you mean I have to sit here in limbo and not get to see Dollhouse? This is disturbing news.

I just called. I had them check to make sure my rejection didn't get lost in the email, and it hadn't. The young man on the phone told me that there are around 2,000 applications still being reviewed. He said he doesn't believe that any of those will receive rejection letters, but that there is no guarantee. His quote to me was "At the very least, you'll get an Honorable Mention." Dude, there is no shame in that! Of course, he also said that he does not know when the process will be complete - wouldn't even give me an idea. So there you have it, my phone call to GRF.

I would be willing to wait until June if I was on the "additional awards" list. But don't tell them I said that :wink: I am one of the limbo applicants, and am having trouble concentrating because I have my fingers crossed 24/7.

I am one of the many who is not on the initial list, and did not get a rejection email. I am holding out hope that they just didn't lose the rejection in the ether that is email, and I'm still in contention for an HM (or dare I hope, one of the additional awards?). My email doesn't automatically reject spam, so I don't think the email got lost .... I think. Hang in there, limbo people!
