I can't really agree Barcelona were absolute rubbish when he took them over. Yes, they had some great players, but Madrid have had equally good/expensive players for years and barely won a thing. Pep took over at FCB after a couple of seasons of steady and embarrassing decline where they got smashed by Madrid. They finished in third and points-wise were closer to 11th place than to 1st. Then he had the vision to sell two of the teams three best players. He created an absolutely stunning side. I'd agree wholeheartedly with Munich being a top side. That's a really different kind of a challenge. Improving on a team that won the treble is truly impressive to me though. One of the funny myths around Mourinho is that he takes over lesser sides and leads them to glory of some sort. Inter had dominated for years when he showed up, Chelsea had an embarrassment of wealth to spend and was already in second place before pumping hundreds of millions into it, and at Madrid he took a team that was already the most expensive in the world and poured another 400million into it. He's an absolutely brilliant tactician in the short term, but as a long term manager his credentials are a myth.

Tonight is going to be brilliant and terrifying! Pushing for an Arsenal win, but it's hard not to admire Guardiola's sides. They are beautiful!

Did anyone claim the UNC one? It seems like their admits trickle in slowly, instead of going out at the same time. It's quite frustrating for those of us who applied there!

I've been curious about the same thing.. Would hate to show up business casual and have all the other prospective students be in suits... would also hate to show up in a suit and have the others be in shorts.. I guess business casual is a relatively safe bet.

I'm wondering the same thing! I've heard that if you're willing to have a slight commute, Rancho Cucamonga and Corona are both a bit nicer than Riverside.

So, I have a question. If you received an admit to a program, but it said nothing at all about funding, how might you go about asking about that? I know the other people on gradcafe who got into the same program also haven't really heard about funding, but the email didn't include anything at all... not even a "funding information will be available at [random future date]." I want to write the department and thank them for the admit and everything, but I'm trying to decide what to include in the email and, in particular, whether to include any questions about funding. Thoughts?

While I would never pick a program based on area/environment alone, it is certainly a perk when you enjoy where you live. Not to mention my wife is cheering for it over schools like Syracuse for that exact reason haha.

Indeed. It seems that half of the conversation on here is about soothing all of our nerves anyway. (What else could we call all our discussions about our applications that we can no longer change?) Claiming the newest UC Santa Barbara admit! First acceptance of the season for me and I'm quite excited No word on funding yet. A week after the first acceptances went out... At this point, I was sure it was going to be a rejection!
