  1. What would be a reasonable price to charge per hour for helping students edit their papers?
  2. Yeah I thought it was strange. Maybe she was close to the top of the list, I'll ask her and I will let you guys know.
  3. My cousin was on the reversion list and was notified in mid-June that she had received the award. She was on the Biology list, if that helps.
  4. I would have to agree with LingGrad. I speak French fluently, and I can get by reading Spanish and Italian because of the similarities. It is difficult to understand it orally, but I can handle reading it. Since you already know Italian, you could go with either French or Spanish. I'm no expert here, but based on personal experience I say you have an advantage. I would stick with French or Spanish.

    SSHRC

Hey congrats to the winners! Perhaps I am in the wrong forum, but I have a few questions about applying for SSHRC next year: I am going into my first year of MA in Sept., and I will be applying for SSHRC. Who do I ask for a reference letter, profs from my undergrad? Also does receiving OGS this year increase my chances for SSHRC next year? How specific were your research proposals? I am not sure if I should taylor my proposal for OGS to something more specific? I don't even know if I will have my thesis figured out by next fall, being that I will be starting my studies. Thanks!
  7. I have friends who have found roommates through facebook. Most grad programs have a facebook group where they usually post helpful information for each other, sometimes related to housing. You could try and find a group associated with your program, or perhaps even grad students at your school. Sometimes people post adds in these groups when they are looking for a roommate, or for another person to fill a house. You can look at the profiles of prospective candidates to get an idea of who they are. Of course this doesn't give you a realistic picture, but you get the idea. Hope this helps! Kay
  8. By mid-April I was freaking out. I hadn't heard anything yet, not even notification that I was wait-listed. After calling once and sending two e-mails, I was notified on April 23 that I was on first on the reversion list. After being in limbo for about a week and a half, I received the e-mail telling me I was being offered admission and full funding. What angers me the most, is that when the letter arrived on May 6th, it was dated April 16th. I waited for about three weeks, and all they had to do was tell me I was admitted. But I can't complain I only applied to two schools, and this school was my first choice Do not give up hope, even during the summer. One of the professors that I have crown close with during my UG told me a story. She applied to an elite University for an MA program and was gutted when she heard she was waitlisted. This was where she really wanted to go. She carried on all summer, and accepted at another university. She got a call in August telling her she was being offered admission because someone had died. A sad, morbid, and weird twist of fate. Never give up hope!
  9. Yay! That's awesome, I guess we all should really never give up. Thanks for giving me some hope, still waiting over here :?
  10. Okay finally some news!!!! can you help me? I don't want to get too excited but this is what I received today form the graduate coordinator: Dear kaybee Many thanks for this request. You are the first on our revision list, and it is very likely that you will receive an offer soon. Sincerely, Grad Coordinator Should I be celebrating? Or should I just hold on to RUPA (rejected until proven accepted) Thanks guys!
  11. I'm sorry, some of you might have noticed I already commented on this in other forums, but I still haven't heard from my top choice! What does the silence mean? Rejection? I wasn't told I was on a waiting list, and I haven't heard a peep from the graduate coordinator (who I e-mailed two weeks ago) I just found out this weekend that I received OGS (for non-canadians it's a government award). Do you think the school was waiting on that? Or does getting OGS affect my chances of being accepted? So frustrating!
  12. That's horrible frandux!! I can truly sympathize, it's horrible that we spend money on our applications only to be treated like garbage by some schools.
  13. I got it too! :D Congrats to all!!
  14. I hear ya! I still heard absolutely nothing from my top choice. So annoying, I called once only to be provided with vague answers. I e-mailed well over a week ago and still nothing! nothing! I don't even know if decisions have been made, or if they sent out rejections/acceptance letters. It's going to be a long and confusing couple weeks. I'm definitely lost as well!
