  1. Hahaha thats what I do now. You too?
  2. I had to do a skype interview for PTS. I took out a legal pad and wrote out my answers to the questions I anticipated they'd ask, such as: Why theology? Why here? What are you interested? etc. I also wrote out some question that I had for the interviewer. For example, as a non-Presbyterian I had some questions relating to my "fit" there and PTS's committment to ecumenicalism. Best of luck! Praying for you.
  3. You're probably already doing this, but look at Philosophy departments as well, not just theology/religious studies. I know Notre Dame's philosophy program is very heavy on philosophy of religion, I'm pretty sure Boston University is the same way.
  4. A wise analysis Seatbelt Blue. How you put it, Benedict's situation seems somewhat analagous to that of Rowan Williams to me: an academic placed in a position of power in a tumultuos time when they really feel more at home in the university than the cathedral. Interesting how they both have stepped down so close to each other.
  5. Did you get into PTS? If so congrats. I'm in the same boat with financial aid. Yale is probably my top, but it'll probably come down to aid (or whether I get into Notre Dame's fully funded MTS!)
  6. So tough! Either the Academy (POI: Plato), or The University of Paris (POI: Thomas Aquinas).
  7. I'd love to attend, but I am not sure. I haven't heard from any other schools so I cannot really make an informed decision at this point; PTS is a top contender nonetheless. I heard via email.
  8. Hey, once all my materials were in (all letters, transcripts, etc) I found out in about a week and a half. Best of luck.
  9. I attend Flagler College, a small liberal arts college in Florida. Although we are not a particularly well known school, our main religion professor is a top scholar in his field and we have a great placement record as far as graduate school goes.
  10. One of my friends heard back from Notre Dame already (for the M.div). Hopefully more will hear soon.
  11. 1 - You have a 170 on the GRE. A few people did as well as you, but noone did better. 2 - You're going to graduate school. Even if Seton Hall is not your top choice, you are still going to graduate school. You've got this.
  12. I second goodbye I (mewithoutyou fan?), I submitted part of my senior thesis with an abstract paragraph. I was also able to use a fairly concise section of the paper that dealt with one issue in particular.
  13. I'm in a similar, although not as direct, situation: I was accepted to a program that wants to hear by March 1st, however I anticipate that I will not have heard back from everyone by then. Is it okay to ask for an extension if I haven't heard from enough schools to make an informed decision?
  14. Yeah, the deadline was Jan. 15; just hoping this means we'll hear back soon.
  15. Congrats to whomever got accepted for the HDS M.Div
  16. I know its not a big issue at all, but for those currently in school: what is the dynamic like in regard to denominations? In other words, is it strange to be Protestant at a Catholic school or vice versa? Similarly, I am curious as to what degree church affiliation has played a role in selection of schools to apply to/ultimately attend if anyone would like to share.
  17. I'd love to see you all at Yale, but I'm a little surprised that PTS doesn't seem to be getting that much love this year!
  18. unacclimated, thank you! I used a portion of my senior thesis, which explored medieval Cistercian and Franciscan ideas about the natural world through the lens of their conceptions of the religious life. I used one section of it and then had a paragraph at the beginning explaining its context within the paper.
  19. Thanks! Yale Divinity is probably my number one.
  20. Got accepted to PTS today, wooo!
  21. I had problems logging in a first, but then HDS sent me new login info and it was cool.
  22. I applied for the Notre Dame M.T.S. History of Christianity track.
  23. My understanding is that if you are rejected for your concentrate you are then considered for the comprehensive. Can anyone confirm/deny this myth?
