Please do pears.

I have one of my POIs on Skype...tempted to call her and ask her what is going on. Ok - I won't. But the wait is ridiculous.

This sounds like she's screwing with your mind.

Reversing a rejection with an email? Sending email while waiting?
agej replied to dungheap's topic in Waiting it Out
Don't do it. Trust me. I've had to tear myself away from doing the same....but you WILL regret it! You don't want to be *that* applicant that they mock on Twitter, at dinner parties or at the coffee machine. -
I'm waiting for a call too (from the dream school). A blocked number called me today...it was an insurance company telling me "we are aware you had an accident in the last six months". I haven't. I swore. If I see an American phone number come up, I'm likely to scream my office down.

It's President's Day today in the US, right? I'm assuming admission departments off... Should I reduce refreshing my email inbox to once every 15 minutes as opposed to once every 5 minutes? :-S

@sophiak119: Hey! I would certainly advise you speak to somone you can trust - either a professional or a friend (or both). Getting into grad school is only the beginning. It seems like when the workload starts to pile on...you may need some extra support to guide you through your program - so start speaking to someone now. There is no shame in it. Secondly, you cannot allow yourself to believe that schools rejecting your application, automatically means that they are rejecting you as a person. There are so many factors involved - direction of the dept, interest match, funding, etc. If you do unfortunately get rejected by all the places you've applied to, talk to these departments and find out why. Then you can prepare yourself for the next application cycle accordingly - if that's what you want. As someone said earlier - you may need to assess why you want to go to grad school in the first place, and why you feel like it's all or nothing. A grad program does not validate or define you...and there really is more to life than academia. Please feel free to keep reaching out to gradcafers if you need to - but honestly, you need to get some extra support for this season. Sending you warm wishes from London.

I have to second everything that has been said before Eager. You have been a source of inspiration, encouragement and light to us all. To think - in years to come, when we cast our minds back to this process and this forum - you will probably still remembered by many of us because of the way you have conducted yourself and comforted others. Thank you for giving us smiles, even through your own tears. I am assured that whatever path you are been taken to, is far greater than the one you are imagining for yourself. Keep being you and keep being eager - you are a blessing to others even through your anonymity. Sending love from London!

"Getting into this program does not validate me. I am already validated, loved and appreciated." Needed that. Thank you.

Is it tacky to answer a previously asked interview question within an email?
agej replied to agej's topic in Waiting it Out
Thanks everyone! This morning I sent some thank you emails to the faculty members I was interviewed by. The responses have been pleasant, so I can just hope my cock up was not too disastrous. :-) -
Thanks! So sorry to hear about your rejection from Rutgers. I'm yet to hear about funding...so it's difficult to celebrate till I do! I knew I was rejected from Cornell as soon as I didn't receive an interview....so no surprises there. Sh*t people say when you are applying to grad school
agej replied to Clou12's topic in Waiting it Out
Honestly. I've heard this several times. Clearly no one understands. -
Cornell just rejected me. It was a long shot...and not my top choice. The decisions are rolling in now.
