Attention Public Policy/Affairs PhDs & Applicants!
PolyWonk replied to PolyWonk's topic in Government Affairs Forum
The LBJ rejection was mine, so I can assure you, it's real That smiley is one of assurance, not of joy. But it's clear they knew, as I did, that I was not the best fit with... I just really like their course list! A couple of their faculty would have been amazing to work with. But, alas, that dream is dead. There is also an "University of Texas" acceptance to "Public Affairs, PhD" posted... I j it came on the 24th, even earlier than my rejection. So that person must fit there like a glove -

I don't know if that makes me feel better or worse about the interview... but good to know nonetheless. Has anyone heard anything else lately? A timeline, maybe? -
Congrats to everyone! Dang! 73 people... noon CST is a hot time to be here!

Anyone claiming the (unofficial) Duke rejection? I feel like I'm going insane with so little information! -

Congrats to all those accepted! Can I just say, all the love in this particular forum gives me hope for the future of the internet! Let's keep the love coming guys!

This is my first round, so maybe I'm naive... but why would they give out an acceptance without funding so early in the game? Don't those usually come later in the process? And I agree, with no funding info, 3-5 weeks is a bit unreasonable.

Sorry about the typos in the last post. I was exhaustedly typing in Amsterdam airport. Congrats on the admits guys! My interviews were UNC and Duke... But I'm feeling a bit nervous about them. I am starting to psych myself out. -

I was under the impression that Sanford school did do interviews for PhDs... all the past students I talked to had been interviewed. -

Hi guys! I've been with limited internet for the last (almost) two weeks, and being away from GradCafe was like addiction withdrawal. First things first, I saw a UNC admit!!! Congrats to that person! I got a culple of interview and I think the one I already did went well. But honestly, I've never done this before, so you know. And welcome to you Giants and Waiting. The more the merrier!! -

Thanks for the advice! I'm really unsure of how much internet access I will have for 5 of the 6 weeks I'll be gone. (Rural Nigeria and Uganda) It will be at best, 2x daily. Worst case scenario... think life in the 90s. I will check with my top 3 choices, just in case -

How to be competitive for: GWU, Georgetown SSP/MSFS, HKS?
PolyWonk replied to SkyStrike's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I've seen this sitting here, and I really don't know how to respond, as I'm not applying for an MPP/MPA. (However, I did apply and was accepted to Georgetown's MPP program 2 years ago. I loved the school, but declined the offer.) As unsatisfying of an answer this may be, take a look at the current "hot" thread... "the AM I COMPETITIVE thread." The first post is particularly informative. The OP applied to and was accepted GWU, American, SAIS and Mecca Princeton's WWS The original post covers the major points (School Requirements, GPA, GRE, Work Experience, Language, Quant skills, & SOP), and a little scrolling will reveal LOR tips too. -
