Public Policy/Affairs Ph.D. Results
zworld707 replied to zworld707's topic in Government Affairs Forum
Not quite true... they accept about 2-3 ppl per cohort and 1-2 of them are not from their own mpp program... I mean, I knew my chances were slim. Did any of you apply to CMU Heinz? I know a lot of the joint-program decisions are out...but I am wondering what's going on for the pubpol phd decisions. Should I be expecting a rejection letter at this point?- 60 replies

I'm waiting on GSPP as well. I contacted their admission staff and she said the results will be out in the first week of March.. but that's always the 'official' date of notification for these schools... I am not too positive about my chance of getting admitted if I don't hear from them before the first week of March. GSPP sends out only about 3 offers per year right?.. Has anyone got an acceptance from GSPP here?- 60 replies

Most often, the acceptances come out first,, and then rejections about a month afterwards. But the good news is that some schools don't announce all their acceptances at once but spill their offers over a certain period of time. I don't know how Wagner is...but hope it's one of those schools. Hang in there!!- 60 replies

Thanks for your kind words. Yes I was aware of the structure of the program... 2-3 ppl per field.. I heard Price's phd has 5 ppl max per cohort (I have a distant friend who is in the 4th yr). Considering how tiny these programs are, we really shouldn't be let down by rejections/waitlists. Good luck to all of us!- 60 replies

NYU Wagner PhD Application Fall2015
zworld707 replied to Kevin7MU's topic in Government Affairs Forum
Hi.... Wagner sent me a kind rejection letter via email today.... Shattered me completely. I really wanted to do my phd here so...bummer. Good luck to the rest of you!! -
Hi guys- I just wanted to start a new thread regarding this... new masters program Chicago Harris is offering: MACRM. The acronym stands for a master of arts with a certificate in research methods. Initially, I applied to Harris's phd program in public policy, and was offered an admission to macrm instead. As far as I know, this program is newly minted. Just started. So all I know about this program is what is stated on the harris webpage- two paragraphs about how macrm is an awesome pre-phd program and how this program prepares students for top-tier phd schools. Well, is there anyone ( current harris students, macrm admits, etc) who knows more about this program? I have been offered admissions from two top-10 schools (in the 5th-10th ranking). So honestly I am highly inclined to say goodbye to the macrm program and accept the phd offers. At the same time, I would very much like to know if harris macrm will prepare me to enter the top 5, or (more importantly) increase my chance of being admitted to chicago harris's phd program after the training. Chicago was my top choice for phd,,so there is my reason for even starting this thread. Any comments or thoughts regarding MACRM would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Yeah... I wish all schools get back to us before March 15th so that we have at least a month to make a decision. Well...hopefully all schools will notify their applicants before April. I know Wagner's decisions are coming out at the end of this week (according to their timetable listed on their website). By the way, has anyone heard from Chicago today? They rejected my phd app a couple weeks ago, and just got back to me for MACRM. (It's a new master's program Chicago is offering) I think I checked the box in my application that says 'yes re-use my app for the MACRM admission if I don't get admitted to the phd program.' I am not all too happy about the admission they just gave me. Sweet. They want me to get a second master... -

hmmm... ~hermes~...I think you replied to a post written two years ago I applied to Heinz/Tepper's joint PhD program in economics and public policy. We could apply in two ways: either through Heinz or through Tepper. Tepper's side shows both rejects and acceptances for the joint phd program. Heinz's side doesn't show any..... I hope this means I still have some hope? lol...don't know. Probably not -

Is anyone else still waiting to hear back from schools? This forum is awfully quiet...Am I the only one still not done? Ph.D. threads in other fields of study are about to explode with people.... what's wrong with ours.. I saw one post saying that the Harvard Kennedy admission letter is now available on the application website. I checked on mine, and no letter pops up. For those of you HSK applicants out there: do you all see your decision letters? Or is it that only the admitted ones can see their letters at this point? Also, from which other schools are you all waiting to hear? -

Hi ENMC, I was the one who posted the USC admission. I got an email notification on Valentine's day morning directing me to a website. I logged on, and there was an acceptance letter with a full 5-yr funding! I am not sure if this is the only way they contact you.... but I am living abroad at the moment, so that might be the reason they didn't give me any call. I haven't seen any USC reject posts, so the school may not be completely done. Good luck to you! -
Hi all, I found this thread a little too late in the cycle (around when the results started pouring in).. and have been lurking ever since.. Since you all seem to know much more about the admission processes than I, I was wondering if I could ask a quick (and sad) question. Do you have any idea what it means for those who have not gotten any responses from Duke/ UCLA/ NYU/ Chicago/ UNC/ Harvard PEG (polsci track)? From the previous replies on this thread, it looks like a no-response from Chicago means rejection. What about other schools? I did see Harvard PEG admits on the results window, but they all seem to be for the econ track... What's up with Harvard PEG polsci / UCLA / Duke / NYU / UNC? Am I safe to assume that I have been rejected from all of them? Btw, CONGRATULATIONS for those who got wonderful news in the past few weeks!

Duke Sanford School of Public Policy
zworld707 replied to Arkibarki's topic in Political Science Forum
oh good. I was getting realllly anxious about Sanford not asking for interviews. As far as I understand, most of the 'top-tier' programs (well i know 'top tier' means different schools depending on your area of focus/specialty...but in general) don't invite people for interviews. Am I right in saying this? That being said, GOOD LUCK, everyone! Hopefully we will all hear great news from Sanford! I actually have BA's from Duke, so they'd better accept me. Hmph. haha..
