  1. No news yet on my end... starting to get anxious!
  2. GAHHHHH. Had to let that out. Let's distract ourselves with miscellaneous banter. Everyone who applied to this program: what is your background?
  3. Thanks for the heads up, Pangolin! I think it would be a great fit for me and it is a very good program, plus it would only be a two-hour move for me... Best of luck to you wherever you choose to go.
  4. Anyone admitted to Tufts who is thinking about going elsewhere...? I would LOVE to go there and am currently high on the waitlist, so...
  5. You're right - didn't mean to sound ungrateful! I'm actually waitlisted for funding at ASU though, so I'm just a little nervous because no funding equals no PhD... but at least there are some possible options on the table. I hope something turns out for you this week, Pericles. Keep the faith! Looks like you applied to a diverse array of programs...
  6. Do you happen to know if Boulder is done with PhD notifications? I've seen folks chalking up radio silence to assumed rejections, but Cynthia Ocken (grad secretary) tells me they're still reviewing apps. I'd just like to know and be done with it!
  7. Other than that lone, lonely rejection, there's been not a peep. Is it weird that a single rejection and no acceptances on the results board somehow makes me more confident? Hmm.
  8. At the top of the Tufts waitlist! I'll take it.
  9. 26 during app season, 27 by fall, and was 24 when I finished my M.A. Right now I work in a money-driven, Office Space-esque corporate environment (my boss is no Lumbergh, though) and am curious as to the looks on faces when I break the news that I am going back to school. They'll probably write it off as youthful immaturity.
  10. Good luck to you, too! Hopefully we'll be able to reconvene in this thread with happy news next week.
  11. That does help! I almost emailed Mike Stamm but held off.... So thanks for the info! So I'm wondering if those who have yet to receive a rejection letter via snail mail are all finalists... I would love to join you in the finalist club!
  12. My condolences, Ken. I haven't heard of any acceptances yet but haven't received the boot either, so I dunno what to think. I'm hesitant to be the annoying guy that emails the DGS. Has no one yet been accepted here?!?! Gah, I'm going crazy.
  13. I've been refreshing my online app status all day Actually, I know that the English program traditionally reminds via phone, so I'm also riveted to that. Hope you get some news from your program...
  14. ... starting to get angsty.

  15. Sooo.... There are eighteen rejections via postal service on the board (someone noted a Feb. 12 post date). I know some of you have received the unholy letter of doom - I'll pour out some liquor for you tonight - but is there anyone else lurking around on GC who hasn't heard anything? I have checked the mail with trepidation for the past week, and have sighed with relief that I haven't been rejected yet... But what are they doing over there in Eugene? When do acceptances/waitlists go out? It seems like a pretty sizable time gap between rejections and acceptances by now. This is my top choice program and I'm starting to get all angsty-like. So basically: has anyone heard anything?
  16. Oh for fuck's sake somebody tell me something. Screw it, I'm going bowling.

  17. Yeah, I saw that lone email rejection posted for UC Davis Cultural Studies. I haven't heard anything from them one way or the other. Would love to know who can claim that to see if they know any more info...
  18. I heard that Davis actually won't be notifying until early March this year for some reason. Someone called and talked to Aklil Bekele, the grad program coordinator.
  19. My post-acceptance bliss has morphed into waitlist-anxiety. Admittance without funding seems a more diabolical form of rejection...

  20. My application also says "incomplete," but it's nothing to worry about. I contacted Aklil Bekele (grad program coordinator) about it last week and was told that they had everything of mine and that the website status just reads that way until a decision has been posted. I also had a missing transcript back in early January, but I was assured that it arrived on time. So I'm not worried! I've been told this is a very competetive program, but it looks like they admitted 10% of applicants last year which seems pretty par for the course in a lot of programs, at least in the ones I applied to which are predominately English PhD programs. I also know that they don't do a waitlist. You either get in or you don't, and I think funding is contingent on the departments you wish to work with. And yeah, as Stephanie says, we've heard that notifications won't be made until early March this year.
  21. Congrats! I applied there as well, fingers crossed but looks like all the calls are going out today and yet my phone remains inert on my bookshelf...
  22. The Princeton bloodbath of 2013 has begun...

  23. Hi Cassie - You can search the Grad Cafe results board up top. My app page on their website has read "submitted" for a long time... According to the results board, they notified in 2012 in late January. So far, it doesn't appear they've made any decisions yet, though.
