  1. Uh-oh (666) . Man, I remember those days when the internet was censored at school. Although, I suppose it could be beneficial if I am trying to get my work done, because I am forever getting distracted.
  2. I am rooting for you guys! Ugh, it's snowing here. Thanks, Montana.
  3. Thank you, everybody, for your congratulations! It means so much to me. Congratulations to all the other people who heard good news today! Hugs to those who did not. I am keeping my fingers crossed for everyone who has yet to hear.
  4. I RECEIVED THE FULBRIGHT TO GEORGIA!!! I am shaking.
  5. To which country did you apply? You still have a lot of which to be proud for having made it this far. Obviously, this is not the news you wanted to hear, but there is always a chance, always a sliver of hope.
  6. I know how you feel. At this point, I just want to know one way or the other. I have a great backup plan in place and I will get to go abroad to a place I love no matter what the verdict on Fulbright is. But I would just like to know so I can fully commit myself in my excitement. I got accepted to a program to teach English in Russia, but at this point, it is all contingent on Fulbright. Am I going to Russia or am I going to Georgia?
  7. That was what I was going to say. I go to a school out in the West and we have a decent amount of students who are awarded prestigious scholarships and honors. Sometimes, I think, programs like Fulbright look toward smaller universities because it wants a diversity and maybe to give those students a chance who might not otherwise get one.
  8. I am a graduating senior. This past week I was accepted to teach English in Moscow, Russia next year. So, if I do not get Fulbright, that is where I will be! I must say, there is some relief knowing that I now have a plan in place and I have some idea on what I am doing beyond August. No, that pretty much sums it up. It is gorgeous here today (close to 70) and all am doing is sitting in front of my computer lamenting about not having heard yet.
  9. I was really hoping that there would be a flood of notifications today. :/
  10. In other news, I was offered a teaching position in Moscow. Now I don't have all my eggs in the Fulbright basket. Although, I still hope to get the Fulbright. Hopefully all of us Eastern European/Eurasian folks will find out soon!
  11. I know! I received that, too. My heart nearly dropped to the floor.
  12. It looks like none of the former Soviet bloc countries have notified applicants yet except Russia itself. I wonder which of these countries will be the first to get the ball rolling? None of them are exactly known for their efficiency. Well, just think of it this way, every day that goes by that we don't hear increases the likelihood that we will hear.
  13. Haha, I am, too. Which, at this point, with all the traveling I want to do, it is probably not a bad thing.
  14. All quiet so far on the Fulbright front. I have started having Fulbright dreams. I swear, this process is getting to my head.
  15. Yeah, UK was one of the first to notify applicants this year. Here is a link to the 2013-2014 spreadsheet. You may find it useful. Good luck! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmoTe-gJd4B9dFJ0aW1mYTVkYnhKcUEzR28yRTNwdlE#gid=1
  16. I am in a similar situation. I have a few days to accept the offer by this other program. I can withdraw from the program, but it would possibly cause it a lot of trouble.
  17. Congratulations! Hopefully this bodes well for other mountainous areas of Europe.
  18. I know, right? I want to find out so badly, but part of me is not ready to hear...or maybe not quite prepared? I also don't know what to think of finding out the status in the subject line. Part of me likes it, part of me wants time to prepare before I open that email.
  19. I know! Georgia is next to Russia...it means the decision will have to come soon. Right? Right? I came here, saw that Russia notified, and my heart skipped a beat. Maybe Georgia notified, too! Nope. Just Fastweb asking me if I am tired of people asking me what my post-graduation plans are. Soon. Congratulations, by the way, to all those Russian applicants who received good news. I am sorry to those who did not, keep your chin up, keep applying.
  20. Congratulations to the Sub-Saharan Africa group! That's so exciting.
  21. Oh no! I am sorry. *hugs* Congratulations!
  22. You can try looking at the country descriptions on the Fulbright website. At the bottom, it should have a link that would indicate whether or not that country has its own commission.
  23. Yeah, I figured that might be the case for me, as well. It is hard to find information on Georgian notifications to begin with to draw any sort of conclusion about when I might find out. The earliest I saw someone hear for an ETA was on March 28th, but that was in 2010. Full grants have been informed in later April. That was all a couple of years ago so it is hard to say what will happen! But it is Georgia, I don't expect them to be fast and certainly not with the budget issues were facing in Washington. I just have to be patient and keep studying for school (which I should be doing right now instead of being on here), and applying for other jobs.
  24. I just checked this site out; it looks really cool. It even has Georgian...imagine that! *happy face* I was going to respond to your post about my icon, but couldn't find it when I checked back for it. I just wanted to let you know that there is no offense taken!
  25. So I heard back from the Europe/Eurasia program manager... "I’m afraid that we do not currently have a definitive timeline for informing applicants..." It looks like I am in it for the long haul. I imagine it is going to be this way for all the Caucasus folks.
