Graduate student housing is okay. There are some apartments that are really well kept up, and others that aren't. They are very small though, especially if you have a family. Though I've seen families with 2-3 kids live in the two bedroom apartments so it's still doable. There is usually a pretty long waiting list for the apartments though, and I believe priority is given to grad students with families. There are some great apartments off campus so I would recommend looking into that. I would look in the Willy Street area or in the Monroe st area if you are looking to get away from undergrads!

The University of Maryland Human Development interviews were last weekend (Friday 3/1) and they have sort of extended some acceptances, but we are all still waiting on funding. Sorry! Good luck though, I'm sure something will work out!

Anybody attending Davis visiting day next Monday (3/4)?

The UC Davis admitted students day is March 4 and the UCLA one is March 18. I don't know if they differ for specific emphases, but those are for Language Literacy and Cultures and Human Development and Psychology respectively. Hope this helps!

Oh thanks but I was rejected. I'm okay with it though because I have gotten into a couple other amazing programs and have another interview coming up! Congrats to you though!

I got into UCLA and UC Davis and now I'm waiting on SDSU/UCSD, but it's not an Ed program it's a Languages and Communication Sciences. I'm visiting the first two this month and I'm super excited!

I got accepted to Language, Literacy and Cultures last week Friday via an email from the graduate direction, but was contacted before that by my POI for a skype chat to "get to know me better" which I interpreted as an interview but was really just to get to know me better since I had already been accepted by the time we talked. Their visiting day is March 4, so I'm guessing most acceptances have already gone out? Though I wouldn't lose hope about other emphases yet!

I got accepted to UCLA Human Development and Psychology 3 weeks ago, and I am super excited to go visit. I have yet to receive any information in the mail though about funding and the visiting day (I know it's March 18 and they'll cover the flight, but that's about it). I just received an email accepting me to the cognitive psych phd program at Penn State! I am ecstatic! Good luck to the rest of you!

For those of you who were also accepted to UCLA phd a couple weeks ago, have any of you received an acceptance package in the mail yet? I was accepted via phone call from my POI to the Human Development and Psychology, and she said I would be getting stuff in the mail soon but it's been over two weeks!

Ahh thanks! Now it says "Decision made" but that I must wait a full business day to see the decision. Officially freaking out now. Though I'm guessing I would have gotten an email from my POI if I had gotten in? Congrats on being an alternate though, that's still pretty amazing!

What program at Minnesota? I applied to the Child Psych program but it's through the school of Ed so I'm never sure where to look for for updates. My application there says "final review" which seems like it should be a good sign?

I just emailed my POI back because I had a bunch of questions (and it conflicts with another school's weekend which I won't find out if I'm invited to until later this week). She said it is paid, and you stay with a graduate student. I was concerned about it but am definitely planning on going now though!

I applied to their EDHD program (Human Development) and got an email from my POI inviting me to their recruitment weekend (2/28-3/1) today (1/21). She gave me no information about what to expect or whether any of it is paid for by the department. I'm guessing other invites will be going out soon since today was technically a holiday?
