I'm an Alum interviewer for prospective students...and let me tell you...sometimes it amazes me what pointless questions/responses some high school students provide. I had one student blow off my email till 1-2 days before the deadline. When I granted him the last minute interview he couldn't even answer "So why ____ University??"... When I asked what would you like the admissions committee to know about you that they won't be able to get from your application he replied, "That I'm cute, funny, and smart."...I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Its amazing how may kids have their parents do things for them. If only grad school worked that way lol.

I was admitted yesterday to BC and to University of Michigan's program today. It's been a crazy week lol But I'm not complaining. Congratulations EdNerd!!! I really hope it all works out.

Tufts- Medford campus...but then again I'm a little biased. I fell in love with it as a prospective student and still think it's very pretty as an Alum. Spring and Fall look so quintessentially New England. I visited University of Michigan's campus and thought their Law Library was incredible.

Thanks for the suggestions and tips PhDreams and ZeChocMoose. I need to look into that funding. I've been waiting to hear back from my other top choices and from there ill start to really narrow down the list to possibly 4. Since I went to school in Boston and London the traveling part is alright with me. It's more of what they're willing to provide me because the cost of traveling starts to add up pretty quickly. If you don't mind me asking, do you have any tips ie. good questions, I could ask while I visit these schools and try to narrow down my list? I always feel like perhaps I'm not asking the "right" questions that get me honest answers from the programs. Thanks!

Did you apply for a second program or check mark the option to be considered for a different program? I'm not sure if it was Penn..or another school I applied to that had that option. But it's just a thought. By the way, you're definitely not the only one with that routine. If only the sites showed me how many times I've signed in... lol

Good idea. I'll definitely look into it. CQE, I definitely agree. Presentation counts! I noticed their open house in October was very basic. As of right now, they only scheduled one full day to interview/get to know the program. So as a prospective student, you will have to choose to interview or sit in a financial aid session/faculty panel, etc. URI was a safety I applied to and they want me to fly in for a 30min interview just to be considered for admission. A whole separate process and visit for assistantships. I couldn't contain myself .....They've lost their minds.

I called the financial aid office today to check whether or not they had received my app. But I was told there's no way of them knowing at this point. We'll receive a confirmation email if and when they do process it. Makes me feel alittle uneasy.

I'm really hoping those decisions come in, sooner than later. I got just admitted to BC's Higher Ed program and after I emailed them about the possibility of staying with a student I was told the program doesn't do that. Blows my mind how they expect me to pay for a hotel and flight. #GradSchoolProblems lol

I'm assuming since they have a rolling admissions deadline (at least for the Master's program- not sure for the PhD) people are finding out in groups over the next few weeks. You can always just check your application status on the Penn GSE application website. If there's a decision, a link will be provided close to the "Submitted" information. Best of luck!!

You took the words right out of my mouth. I should have never found "Results search". Smh....

I called them concerning this issue. I was told that even though the system says incomplete the faculty will still review your app. How that makes me feel...not sure :-/

LOL I feel the same way. One of these days my IPhone is going to block me from checking my mailbox....and Armageddon will happen. Hehe..

I wonder if they'll release their Master's POLs decisions soon...this waiting game is painful.
-
Oh man..that's how I felt when I received my rejection letter via mail yesterday and then today an email notifying me that my application decision was available online. THANK YOU for rubbing it in UCLA. Beers for everyone!
-
Well...I'm one of the crazies who ALSO applied to 15 schools. Which..I DONT EVER recommend anyone do. I wanted to pull my hair out by the end. I just received my first rejection letter after coincidentally turning down another program. Karma?? Or just coincidence?? lol The irony, it was the the school that inspired me to go into education in the first place lol...But all is well. At least I got something in the mail this week!!

OhMySocks, I'm in a similar situation. Most of the schools I applied to were suppose to notify me by late February/Early March..and NOW that went out the window when I heard from U of Arizona in December and U Penn in early January!! ugh...the suspense is killing me. ... By the way, I noticed you applied to Tufts. I attended Tufts as an undergrad....if you have any questions about the location/school..etc. feel free to PM me. Can't say much about the graduate school but I know the campus well

Hmmm...I thought FAFSA was due Feb. 2nd

Ohhh! Congrats!!!

A Pep Talk from Kid President......to help you with the wait

It's probably because I have a Mac. I swear, the world hates Macs. lol Good luck as well!

Nicolemae: I hope we hear soon from U Michigan because I'm affraid that the preview weekends for HGSE, Penn GSE, and U Mich will all coincide. Lulubelle: I haven't heard a thing from them. But I also applied to the assistantships, so I'm not sure if that slows down the process. I'm assuming they won't announce anything until early March. Btw, where you able to upload things on your app? I wasn't allowed to.
-
Yep, sure am. Had to guess on my income though because I haven't received my W2 yet.
-
I applied for the POLS Master's program. But I'm not expecting a decision till early March. Because I definitely was that procrastinator who submitted the day of the deadline. PS. that application was a pain....just my $.02.

If you're looking for more practiced based Master's programs I would aim for MSU, NYU, University of Vermont, UNC Greensboro, Indiana, Ohio, University of Florida, etc. I'd also suggest on looking for "Student Affairs" concentration Master's program on US News & World Report. Higher Ed programs are becoming more concentrated, "Higher Ed Administration" or "Student Affairs". If you'd like to chat feel free to PM me.
