I'm from Ohio and they also gave me a night stay with reimbursement for travel (for those who also were reimbursed have you gotten anything yet?). I agree with everyone above. My visit was amazing! Everyone is so friendly so I'm really excited for the Fall. I'm also an incoming MA student.
Also, has anyone heard about funding yet? I heard we're supposed to hear this week???
If you contact the people or company who own the complex they'll tell you whether or not they typically lease to undergraduate or graduate students. In many cases, they don't lease to undergraduates at all which is good to know
Yeah, I started off wanting a single but I don't know about my funding yet so it's all up in the air.....
My plan is to visit in the upcoming week sometime to check out the campus and look at some places. I agree, State College seems to be a tough location to find apartments on a budget.
Luckily, someone from my undergrad program is also going to Penn State in the Fall so at least I'll know one person
@kunstgeschichtedude first of all, nice handle ; )
Also, that's awesome! I want to study with Elizabeth Walters while I'm there. Hopefully we'll hear some news about funding soon
As everyone else has pretty much expressed, I'm going to Penn State in the Fall (YAY) and I'm starting to look for apartments. I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on some of their experiences with housing in the area (horror stories/dreams come true). Also, when (ideally) should I start to call people to secure an apartment for August? In other words, when is too late?
I'd love to live in a one bedroom apartment within walking distance to campus without being constantly surrounded by undergrads if that helps.
Thanks for any advice!!!
Hi y'all!
Just got my acceptance letter from Penn State (YAY)! And I was wondering who else was accepted? I'm really interested in what the diversity of fields looks like for this year and how many of us there were Penn State was definitely my top choice so I can't wait to be an official Nittany Lion!
How did you find out about Duke???
Also, University of Chicago is sending everyone their notices the first week of March but POIs have been personally contacting the admits from what I've heard...
I obviously have no way of knowing for sure, but according to the results search from 2011 there were people who were accepted that didn't hear anything until they got their acceptance letter even though others had been invited to the Symposium. I think that they might only ask people to visit that they're not 100% sure about yet.
