I don't want to get a data plan. I guess I can still plan my route with wifi, and follow it. but the thing doesn't recalculate if I need to detour, and it drains the battery like a modaf*ker

seeking input from all you adventurous folks out there. i'm looking for a small gps that doesn't need to be plugged in for a long period of time. I've looked through garmin etrex, montana and oregon, and they're all great, but none of them have street navigation, which need to be purchased for an additional $80, and I don't even know if that comes with lifetme update. I've also looked into the possibility of using a regular street gps like a 4.3 nuvi or a tomtom and power it with one of these AA battery powered chargers (http://www.rayovac.com/Products/Portable-Power-Chargers/PS73-Portable-USB-Charger-Battery-Power-Pack-for-iPhone-Android-Micro-USB.aspx) It'll be a lot cheaper. But it's cumbersome, and with 4 AA batteries (around 10000 mAh), I don't know how long a full charge would be able to power a nuvi, which is only rated for 2 hours battery life. manufacturer website doesn't specify the power usage for the nuvi or its battery capacity the other option is to get an etrex, oregon or montana, and plan routes ahead of time using free online software like http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ or open street map, but I've heard that these aren't very good, and they give you weird routes. i don't want to spend $400 on a stupid GPS. I've had brief experience with the etrex 10, and I don't find the basemap very useful for what I want to do. street navigation is really what I'm after. any help?

my only complaint with my zenbook is that its keyboard and trackpad isn't very good. mine was a refurb, and when I got it, it had a trackpad issue where it would click on a random line while I'm typing and replace a chunk of text with what I'm currently typing. It went away after I downloaded a newer driver. might not be an issue with a newer model. the other thing is my zenbook only has 2 usb slots, a 2.0 and 3.0. I use the 2.0 for the wireless mouse, so one usb 3.0 leaves much to be desired, especially with a 128 gb ssd capacity. other than that, no complaints. but the keyboard thing would be a biggie for me if I were to program with it. they don't feel crisp and smooth like other keyboards (eg. MacBook) also, just get what you need with the processor. bigger processors only waste energy. I'm sure they have energy saving modes, but why spend more for processing power you don't need?

my alma mater doesn't even take iits own chem eng undergrads for phd I was told that the driver is to improve the diversity of its alumni, so therefore the potential network of the department - makes sense to me.

didnt they stop making these in the 70s? friend of mine wants a motorcycle with a vintage box style like that. I want to convince him to buy the local 07 ninja 650r in excellent condition for $2500, but he wants to take the msf course first. I don't want 2 motorcycles, but this bike is a steal, and I can always sell it for a profit... maybe keep it as my primary because it's blue... I'm a sucker for blue new zealand huh? say hi to saruman for me

I don't think the OP has 70k in savings, and I don't think journalism would offer anything close to 20k stipend for a graduate program... that's not even considering the local real estate market, which is something I don't wouldn't want to mess with unless i know the ins and outs of that animal. resale value is a big deal.

I would imagine that journalism is a field that's being hit pretty hard. so I think it's hard to compare your situation to others', considering the industries are so different. If I were you, I'd sit down and really take some time to start making a spreadsheet of all your income and costs, month by month, and project that out to 10 years or so. It's a numbers game. the little things will add up, but 6 figures... that's a lot of money...you know this.... I don't know if you've already done this, but put that debt into that spreadsheet and hit calculate. do you think it'll be worth it to still be paying off student loans 15 years down the road, so that you can have a house sooner?

do it. you'll accentuate from the crowd, and your cohort will respect your resourcefulness

tshirt with upside down periodic table, so he can look down and see the atomic number of lawrencium this is a nice toy. a coworker has it. I was bummed when whe didnt have enough to make fullerene or even a diamond lattice, so get him a LOT. it's like legos, but crack for chemists better yet, have him build cortisone, relieve some stress but I think that's going off track from the periodic tablw -

I'd be interested to see it. btw, whoever plays celia in phd comics is smoking hot. supa fine wait, I'm not sure if it's Cecilia, or a different character, but call me sally. btw you kind of are advertising... are you part of the production?

but honestly, everything gets muffled by the wind. now I just have to find something else to listen to.

the guy before me modded it, I couldn't care less, haven't reved above 5k yet, but will find out soon enough. I don't get the loud exhaust either. perhaps it's a means to let drivers notice you and not swerve into your lane, or maybe it's just a dick measuring contest like getting an R6 or R1 or one of those unnecessary Japanese american where 95% of the consumer market is in the US.
