  1. I'll be attending IIT this fall & am living in the Printer's Row area of south loop. Any cool places in my 'hood or nearby I should make sure to check out? Also, any recommendations for fun things/places to go in other areas is appreciated! I've enjoyed running on the lakefront path & I've been to Bridgeport & Andersonville, but other than that haven't left the south loop too much. Thanks!
  2. I'm wondering if anyone out there is in this program or knows anything about it? I have not been accepted to the PhD programs I applied to (haven't been rejected from them all yet either) so I am researching a back up plan. I am interested in being in a program that has an applied focus, and I did apply to PhD programs that lean that way but an M.A. might be a better fit. I am a "non-traditional" student, I'll be 31 this year. I have work experience and this program seems like it would be a good fit. Any insight into the Organization Development program at SSU and surrounding community would be very much appreciated!
  3. I applied to the program as well. I also had some reservations about it. I did email with a current student who had nothing but good things to say about the program and it sounds like it is more applied based, offering a number of paid internship opportunities which can make up for the lack of funding if you are responsible enough to use the money to turn around and pay for school. But if i get accepted to any of the other programs I applied to, I'll be going to them........
  4. School: University of Minnesota Area: I/O Rationalization: This was a reach, it's a top ranked program & my GRE wasn't so great. It also probably wasn't the best fit since I want more applied experience than what they provide-super research focused program.......hoping for good news from my more realistic apps: IIT, UMSL, SIUC
  5. I also applied to this program and haven't heard anything. Maybe today. How long ago did you get the email confirming your application was complete? They emailed me on Feb 22 & said it would be a "few weeks". Just wondering what the timeline was for you.
  6. I am 31, graduated in 2005 with my undergrad and am applying to PhD programs for Fall 2013. The biggest challenge for me was the time that has passed. My GRE scores were not stellar, they were slightly above average. It was also challenge to get strong LOR, I ended up with one academic letter and two from my career, I don't know if that will work against me, but it's the best I could do! I'm hoping that my experience will be viewed in a positive light and work to benefit me but with other applicants who have 4.0 GPA, better GRE scores and stronger academic LOR I can't help but feel the odds are stacked against me. I'm counting down the days till April 15th when this process will be over & I will at least know what the result is! It is encouraging to read that there are others who are "older" also applying to grad school. If this round of applications doesn't end up with an acceptance I may re-take the GRE & audit some courses to get stronger LOR from professors.
  7. Incessant inquiries from friends and family "Have you heard back!?" "Where are you moving!?" (I've been living in HI and they are beyond excited that I'll be back in the midwest) Like I'm keeping it from them, just for fun.
  8. Mine has been stuck in final review since last week! I applied to the I/O program. I randomly met someone through a friend who said he was on the board at U of M and could "get me in" so I'm hoping that was true and that explains the hold up.......but it is likely just a delayed rejection!
  9. My web portal has been stuck in "final review" for awhile. I'm sure it's a rejection coming. There have been postings of acceptance offers in early Feb.
  10. I have not heard from a single school yet. Although I only applied to five schools. University of Minnesota app has been in "final review" status on the web portal since last week! It's killing me!
