You're more than welcome to be a dick as a person who actually attends grad school versus some one who has no idea what they're talking about and are spreading rumors based on ignorance.
-
wow... just wow.... because all of the SAIS applicants are on this forum, and they're not the type that do their research in more than one way on the internet. You really are something aren't you. I don't even know why you still post here, or in this thread. Why don't you attend an MBA student party and you can all laugh at the pathetic IA/IR programs and drink champagne you bigoted waste of time.

I just recieved an email from SFS stating that I was accepted. Although the wording has me confused on the conditional acceptance. I'm not sure if it's a template email or what because I already satisfy all their conditions.

Decision Input... SAIS, GW, Denver, Berkeley, Georgetown
Kadisha replied to MissJessica1721's topic in Decisions, Decisions
I'm actually in the same position. Trying to figure out which is more worth it. If I go to SAIS or SFS I'm going to have to pay $20,000 out of pocket. If I go to GW I would be able to go for free. So in short I'm trying to figure out if that extra $20,000 a year is worth it. -
Since GU uploaded their MSFS results for some but did not send emails for some reason I decided to check my SIPA application. What I saw almost gave me a heart attack. At the beginning I thought I did not even apply because my application wasn't submitted for some reason. Then I realized it was just them getting ready to upload the decisions. Hopefully we'll hear something tonight. If not then Monday it is. I'd personally like to use the weekend to make a decision. If SIPA gives me no financial aid it's going to be between SFS and ESIA.

You guys made me literally jump out of my bed this morning. I'm IN! No financial aid though, thank God for the GI Bill but it would be nice to be fully funded.

Makes absolute sense, however I think you kind of addressed our issue in the same post. Right now there seems to be three different personalities reflected that deal with issues in distinct ways. We can argue about the pros and cons of each, but I think you would agree that everyone has their own different methods of dealing with a negative situation.
-
I really understand how you guys are trying to keep things civil, but I guess it's just a matter of character. Those of us who are more aggressive versus those of us who are more relaxed about things. I can tell you for sure that if he was in my class at SAIS (for example) and approached the discussions in class with the same attitude I would make it a point to factually hammer him at every occasion possible. Why? It's because there are certain people that do not appreciate what they get. They think they are entitled to certain things just because they were mildy successful earlier. Then they think they are better than other people, because they have different goals. I'm sorry but I've been to the crappiest places on the planet, and saw the destitute that people, who were not blessed to be born to rich parents or in a first world country, live in. Revolution is in no way a good fit for IA programs, because government affairs programs require to have a sense of selflessness, and this guy has none. And on a side note, nobody likes whiners.

Don't know what rankings you're looking at, but here's one according to Foreign Policy Magazine. SIPA ranks 6th. If we're to take rankings by magazines seriously, then you have to consider that if a university is good at one thing then it doesn't mean it's good at everything, and that also applies to Ivy Leagues' as well. I know Brown University has an IA program, but you don't see anyone here talking about it. However I'm sure it's the top choice for all out of med school students. http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2012/01/03/top_ten_international_relations_masters_programs

Somehow I think current grad students at that school are better poised to answer your question. We can tell you whatever we think but it's all going to be speculation or hearsay.

Soapwater is right. Go look at the HKS and SAIS thread. In every single thread he bitches about the school not being good enough and wishing he was in an MBA program. It gets really annoying, and I sincerely hope I never meet him in real life.
-
All I've seen you do on this board is complain. I seriously feel bad for your future classmates, colleagues, and coworkers.
-
SFS is my top choice, and I really want to go there. I hope we hear from them soon. I think they've been the least transparent about their decision dates.
-
Boooooo... Didn't get in. Congratulations to all who did. Can't say I'm not bummed out, but Harvard was never a first choice. It's going back to Boston that attracted me to it. Keeping my fingers crossed for Georgetown.
-
Yeah. They let you know in the letter itself. I know SAIS is an awesome school, and two years in Europe would be amazing. This is going to be a tough decision, and I'm still waiting on SIPA, Georgetown, and Harvard. Come to think of it, the ivy leagues are all really taking their sweet time.

Just got an email. I got accepted into the MAIA program in Bologna! No funding though, which seriously hurts my chances of going there. Calling their VA department today to see how much funding I would get with the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
-
She's not going to know what hit her haha. I also still have the Skype account name of the Dean of Admissions and the professor that interviewed me.
-
Could be in the same people since I switched last minute from MA to MAIA, but we got to the bottom of it regarding the interview. They interview all applicants for the MAIA program. When people were discussing it they were referring to the MA program, and no one specified the program until later. It's such a peculiar way to name the programs in my opinion. Definitely doesn't help with the confusion.

Application Season: Already Attending Thanks for the wisdom.

Nah. I think rhodeislander was correct. They seem arbitrary. I'm a citizen and in the military. Definitely no way to confuse me with an international student haha. I have applied to Bologna through the MAIA program. It could also be that they send them out based on the application submission order. Either way I hope we hear something tomorrow.
-
My last name ends with a B, but I'm not an international student. It looks like the Bologna campus applicants didn't get the decisions. Hopefully we'll hear something tomorrow.
-
Ok this is really frustrating and I'm trying to figure out what's going on. Has anyone here that has applied to the MAIA program heard back? I'm wondering if the delay is because the MAIA program is based out of Bologna.

I checked the VIP page directs you to the same application page. I think I'm just going to get off the computer for a little bit, because I've got to save what little sanity I have left.
