  1. I've got a long story, but in a nutshell I went to undergrad here as an international student. Joined the Army under a pilot program because I am spoke a critical language (Arabic in this case), and roughed it out in Iraq and Afghanistan. So yes I have taken the DLPT V. Have a 3/3 (native speaker rating) in MSA and a 3/3 in Iraqi, and I'm Lebanese so I naturally know the Levantine dialect. The Army doesn't pay me for testing for it, so I never bothered haha. I understand what you mean about Iraqi being difficult. I even had a hard time understanding it when I first got to Iraq in 2010. Does that include Bologna? I went to their blog earlier and it hasn't mentioned anything. No it makes sense. I hope every single one of us here gets in. I'm just not completely confident because my academic performance isn't anything special.
  2. Hmm interesting. I guess I could have applied to that. I've just spent too much time in the Middle-East these past few years (2 military deployments) and I needed a change. I pretty sure my fluency in Arabic and my intensive work using it is going to help me there, and all other place for that matter. Good luck with your application though.
  3. I think they just like keeping us on our toes lol. It's really miserable.
  4. Two things. You have a personal interview if you've applied to the MAIA program. So you get to feel the vibe they have about you. Second is that the SFS for the MSFS program accepts 75 students per year. Don't remember where I read that to site the source, but it wasn't "a friend told me". Edit: Grammar
  5. lol. These past few days have been interesting for me. Random thoughts of terror about being rejected from every single school haunt me. But I really do have high hope for GWU and SAIS. Don't know about Gtown though.
  6. Considering that education is an investment that has no depreciating value and a lot of people buy cars with that much, if not more, value then I think it's a good plan. You also might be able to find your way into a fellowship. So yes definitely a lot worse problems to have haha. You're making a good choice in my opinion. On another note, I hope the schools that run a blog and have their decision deadlines approaching realize that anything they post that doesn't have to do with the decisions is not being read.
  7. Fair enough. Makes sense now. Sounds like it. Was hoping for some good news this morning. Although they did say they were going to release information for the specific programs later. Maybe we'll hear something more specific then.
  8. Seems like a lot of us here are in the same situation. Every email I get makes me wonder. That (1) in my gmail tab is not my friend right now.
  9. nah I'm bringing my iPad with me. I'm still going to be checking my email. It's just not going to be as obsessive since I've got more distractions.
  10. Bro then why did you apply there? OR did you even apply there? Seriously. I'm just curious at this point.
  11. It kind of is a vague timeline. I'm thankfully not stress eating haha, but I am taking a five day vacation starting this Thursday and distracting myself from everything before the actual week of "Mid-March".
  12. It's official I'm going insane. Some programs I've applied to have said early to mid-March. Been obsessively looking at my email and the Government Affairs section all day even though I might not hear anything till next week. Goodbye sweet sanity.
  13. Considering that for some of us being accepted/rejected is a life altering event you have to excuse the jumpiness.
  14. Don't worry about it. Not really that upset. Congratulations though.
  15. I just called HKS Admissions. They didn't pick up. Will try again in 10 minutes.
  16. Don't get us wrong I believe everyone is happy for you that you've been admitted provided that the news is true. With anonymity of the internet allowing people to get a kick out of the anxiousness of others you have to excuse our skepticism.
  17. From the Harvard Admissions Blog Inconsistency here.
  18. Full tuition. That's awesome. Are you going for USC then if UW doesn't match it?
  19. Are you trolling? Has anyone else heard anything? Edit: Added second question.
  20. Honestly I'm not entirely sure because my experience with the private sector is very limited. I'm hoping that my time at wherever I decide to attend will help me figure that out. I would actually love a liason job of sorts or a PR position. On the long term though I know I want to get into politics. I know I want to help bring the change that everyone keeps talking about but never does anything for. We'll see how things turn out.
  21. I don't think anyone has. Looking at past trends however we might hear something from them at the end of next week.
  22. Thanks man, but I'm not entirely interested in business per se. Don't get me wrong I would definitely rather work in the private sector, but I'm more of a PR/Government type of person. Back as an undergrad I didn't find business very engaging like I did with economics or political science, which is funny because it's usually the opposite.
  23. Hmm I guess I'm not the only one suffering from this paranoia. The only school that I've had contact with since I applied was JHU SAIS. The only reason is because part of the official application is a personal interview. Now I think that interview went well, but I find myself rethinking it, and saying that I shouldn't have said this and I should have said that. Then I question my credentials about even attempting to apply to grad school. It's clear... I'm losing my mind.
