  1. I think it depends on how much the cost of living is in the country, if you have money saved up for it/alternate funding, and how much time your research would take a week (you could maybe get a part-time job while you're there?).
  2. It's probably because someone did a search on it and then closed out of the browser. I just tested it for a search of just Asia, closed it, and when it was reopened it was only showing results for Asia applicants.
  3. Scratch that, I got it to display everything, but is there a way we can default it to display all the information when you open it or make a note explaining how to search? I know that people's familiarity with Google docs varies.
  4. Where did all the data go? I am only seeing Asia and Eurasia, but I know we should have close to 70 people on that list.
  5. I think Smith posted the news of the recommendations a day or two early last year: http://www.smith.edu/fellowships/news.php. I do wonder, however, if the FPAs who announce early get reprimanded at all. I also know that one person last year started stalking Twitter to see if anyone posted that they got recommended.
  6. My FPA says she gets notified at the same time as I do and hasn't been able to give me a better idea of a date than our estimate of this Friday.
  7. It's between x2 and x1.5 of the number of grants available, but as you can see from the stats page the number of available grants fluctuates a tiny bit so it wouldn't be exactly 30 every year.
  8. That is my understanding of the statistics page. Those are good odds
  9. Agree, our nerves can't handle this!
  10. I was afraid to check my email, so I first came here if any notifications had gone out so I could mentally prepare to receive the news. It's maybe pathetic, but I avoided the heart attack from that survey (to those still coming down from the panic spike remember to breathe). I understand why they'd want feedback before the results went out, but why couldn't they have done this in December or the beginning of last week?
  11. Lyon is where I hope to be based. I have visited Paris and have lived in Nice, but haven't been to Lyon. Good to know it's a nice place to be beyond just doing research
  12. Nice! What part of France were you in?
  13. I might call them if we don't hear anything after Friday. I heard that the government shut down shouldn't have affected Fulbright, but I don't know if it might have caused some delays in the review process.
  14. In 2013 it was a Friday and in 2012 it was a Thursday.
  15. I know that email notifications start going out usually around 5, but does anyone know what the latest time is that you're likely to get an email? It it normally 5-8?
  16. It's not sappy, it is really nice to have a community of fellow applicants cheering for each other for something as stressful and competitive as a Fulbright.
  17. Primarily in Lyon. Did you add your information to the google spreadsheet already? https://docs.google.com/a/mail.usf.edu/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsJrSSHnssqFdHNPell4VVZwWDgtWUpQcTVVeWM0bWc&usp=sharing#gid=1
  18. I am I agree that it's really nice being able to talk to other people who have been there and who are also in your situation. Where in France are you hoping to conduct your research?
  19. 7 days to go...(maybe).
  20. Yes! I'm thinking of ways to keep myself even busier next week so I won't sit there and be an anxious mess.
  21. It's I think the best guess given that last year they heard on Friday, January 18th and the year before that it was on Thursday, January 19th. I think the emails usually go out between 5 to 6PM in the evening.
  22. Does anyone know if we will be notified of our recommendation status after or at the same time as our campus advisors?
  23. I have had several crazy dreams about Fulbright recently too. Hopefully we only have to wait another 10 days!!
  24. Thank you Alejo!
  25. For those of us who are applying for 2014-2015, do you know if there's already a board? I've searched, but haven't found one.
