  1. I don't know if they also lurk on here, but a few of the applicants for that grant created their own forum on grad cafe:
  2. To all our new forum members, please don't forget to carefully add your information to our spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/a/mail.usf.edu/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsJrSSHnssqFdHNPell4VVZwWDgtWUpQcTVVeWM0bWc&usp=sharing#gid=1 The data from past cycles has been very helpful for us and we want to be able to share our information with future applicants
  3. Congratulations on getting into the program!!
  4. Bonjour Neurona! There are several of us who have applied for France (you can see our names on the spreadsheet in my signature). Did you apply for a research/study grant or ETA?
  5. Again, well said! While I have been somewhat anxious to hear any news like everyone else, I am very excited to have even made it this far. It still doesn't seem real sometimes. Apart from focusing on this achievement, another thing that has helped me be patient is the thought that I much rather the commission takes the time to select the finalists based on a fair criteria and not on impulse and that they make all the arrangements/notifications correctly. I would hate to be told I was selected and it turned out it should have been someone else.
  6. Oh I don't have a Twitter account, so I just search Twitter for the tag Fulbright. I know it was some Fulbright commission, but not sure which one since they all have their own usernames.
  7. I don't think a standardize test would be a good idea anyway if they are truly trying to get a broad spectrum of projects and applicants. I will say I don't envy the Fulbright employees. That has to be a lot of pressure having to pick who to give thousands of dollars and a once in a lifetime opportunity, especially in this second round. I'm sure there is also some inter-country "office politics" involved between IIE/US Commission and the individuals commissions in the foreign countries between the types of students/projects the US wants to promote and what the foreign country is looking for.
  8. Well after looking at the notification dates for the 100th time, it looks like starting next week is when we historically get into the territory of at least 3-4 countries notifying a week. Even though we can't really develop "game day" plans like last time (since the news can come at any point), is anyone doing anything to prepare for it (e.g. stocking favorite ice cream in freezer...)?
  9. Fulbright I believed announced this via Twitter and I saw it again more recently on the gradcafe Fulbright NatGeo forum.
  10. To be fair, they had 864 applicants for 5 spots versus for NatGeo and about 10,000 applications for research/ETA for well over 100 different countries. That just exponentially complicates things in terms of politics, budgets, time zones, and the number of people involved in a single decision.
  11. I know this is "so Florida" of me, but with everyone's mounting stress I think this is a cute way to talk down the anxiety...even if those encouraging words are coming from a manatee: http://calmingmanatee.com/1
  12. Thank you for the clarification
  13. YYYYYYAAAAAYYYY!!! That is amazing. I wonder if they forgot to email you and just sent the hard copy notification. My roomie said she didn't get any news and it wasn't until someone called about paperwork did they realize that nobody had notified her.
  14. Thank you for sharing this Thought it was interesting too what they were talking about in the article relating to student loans.
  15. I'm not sure about Ireland because 2 of the 3 posts are not the more common full research grants.
  16. Found this while checking through Twitter for any news: http://www.fulbright.at/fileadmin/user_upload/allgemein/Save_Fulbright/save_fulbright_lobbying_US.pdf It looks like there is a proposed $30 million cut to the Fulbright program. I'm not sure how they are defining Fulbright 2015 (as either our cycle or next year's applicants).
  17. So I think this brings it to Austria, the EU, Finland, and Indonesia who have released results. By this point last year, there were 5 results announced instead of 4 and things didn't really start getting kicked into high gear until 3/19.
  18. Gah I didn't mean to cause panic >_< This is a survey from back in January, not related at all on your status.
  19. Yeah, don't worry about it. If you got your recommendation status email, that's all that matters.
  20. Yeah I don't think it was ever made clear whether the countries were notified before us or at the same time. I hope it was before us or else we might as well tag on another 2 weeks to the typical notification date.
  21. Worse than when they sent out that survey.
  22. I've gotten to the point that I am anxiously waiting for news of any acceptances, not just news for those who have applied to France...it's quiet...too quiet.
  23. Thanks for the clarification
