  1. Thank you for sharing your story Hope is appreciated.
  2. Historically, I don't we have done too well as far as getting actual principals. From the statistics released by university, I think we get a lot of alternates: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/uploads/files/top_producing/2013-14/doctoral.pdf Last year, 40 people applied and 4 people got ultimately accepted.
  3. Although this is likely pure speculation, it looks like most alternate to accepted cases found out they got promoted on Thursday, with a handful finding out on Friday or Monday.
  4. They are debating recognizing national scholarship winners and alternates at this spring's graduation ceremony. However, since it has nothing to do with the status of my actual application, I was momentarily confused about what they were asking me when I first read the email.
  5. I think in Fulbright/FPA orientation they should make it a rule that FPAs can't send an email titled " Your Fulbright Application" unless actually related to your application. I just received an email from the Office of National Scholarships at my school with that title, but it was actually asking me if I am planning to graduate this semester. And just when I finally mastered not being fazed by the Fulbright Student blog emails...
  6. I really hope this turns out to be the same situation for you Mozartgirl, I am hardcore cheering you on!! Actually when I read "OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! I CAN'T BREATHE...I LITERALLY...CANNOT BREATHE...I FEEL LIKE I'M DROWNING...I'M DIZZY AND LIGHT HEADED..." I was thinking "YES!!! She got it!!!"
  7. It's time for more Florida stories: http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/science-and-technology/911-caller-concerned-about-ring-around-the-sun-a-22-degree-halo-formed-by-ice-crystals
  8. Thank you for sharing that information with us. I wonder if Fulbright would end up reducing the amount of grants given or just make the funding smaller for each grant. Your posts are interesting and insightful, so I don't mind you "hogging" the forum And that was very sweet of you to wish that as your birthday wish. Crossing fingers that at least one other country finds out today or some alternates get bumped up.
  9. Words of wisdom...
  10. I highly approve of these GIFs guys, keep them coming
  11. YAY!!! CONGRATS! ^___^ P.S. Say hi to him from me too please
  12. It's no that bad. I don't have to pay any charges or anything, so that's good, it just felt like one of those "psych!" moments : p
  13. Got a call from an unknown number and optimistically thought it might be IIE.........turned out my credit card was compromised and they need to send me a new one.
  14. Thank you for sharing the email title. Good to hear that you have other options open! Good luck
  15. Congratulations to all the those accepted to Brazil! To all who are alternates, welcome to the club (I'll try and keep the wait interesting with random memes or crazy Florida stories). For those who did not get selected, sending you internet hugs and hoping that other amazing opportunities open up. You are all clearly superstars for having the skills, passion, and sheer tenacity to get this far.
  16. Lol high five Mozartgirl53, I did a mini happy dance at my office desk when I read the news. Good to know other people get this excited about gradcafe acceptances too
  17. YAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! Parabéns!! I'm so happy that you got this ^________^
  18. That's kind of what I'm hoping for, that a principal from France got into their dream graduate school or got an even better opportunity. I know it's still early, I was just hopeful that at least one of the alternates would hear something with April 15th being tomorrow. I feel so flaky right now when people are asking me what I'm doing after graduation and all I can say is I don't know and I don't have any clue if I'll even hear back from Fulbright. Some people are getting frustrated with me when I give them this answer
  19. We need more news of alternate to accepted. So far I think we only have had this happen to one forum member : /
  20. Congratulations on your alternate status (because there is still hope), but I am sorry that you have to go through this experience again. It hasn't even been a whole month for me and I am already tired of this limbo business. I really hope you get bumped up this time and SOON.
  21. CONGRATS!!! I was really rooting for you and am so happy that you got it !!!
  22. Congratulations!!!! Very excited for you guys P.S. Please don't forget to put the EST time that you received your email when you update the spreadsheet.
  23. How many people are still waiting to make decisions about grad school until tomorrow?
  24. Like many people on this forum, I am really shocked by this outcome. I really wanted you to get this! I agree with japaniia, that maybe this means you are suppose to try for a research grant or to take another opportunity that still is in the works as far as presenting itself to you. I also agree with Mozartgirl53, however, with the suggestion of maybe giving yourself a year off if you are going to go for a Fulbright research grant. It's been grueling enough going through this once, I can't imagine 3 times! No matter what path you decide to go on, remember that you are a superstar! As a fellow public health grad student, I am so happy that someone as tenacious and dedicated as you is on "Team Public Health" And as cheesy and trite as this may sound, I know that this is not going to stop you from doing some amazing things. Sending you a big internet hug and lots of cookies/ice cream/whatever "sometimes food" you enjoy the most!
  25. I think I might need to end up doing that. I just feel like I should have broken my Pavlovian response to it by now : P
