  1. I received my email on Thursday. Are you out of state? (Maybe they give out of staters more time to plan?)
  2. So they responded quickly and said they can move the interview date but that's it. I guess I'm flying out for a two hour interview... yikes. Not a good start to this whole thing
  3. Whoa!! 25?! That's insane. So sorry to hear that! Did you have a group interview for the 3 hour event? Was that one any better?
  4. Thanks! I asked about Skype. Can you write more about your group interview and why it was awful? That worries me!
  5. I just got an email from Fairfield inviting me to a two hour group interview. The thing is, I'm all the way across the country. Should I try to make it for the group interview (take off work and pay for the flight) or ask for a Skype interview? I don't want to miss anything important but such a short event doesn't seem like it's worth the money...
  6. My interview was very similar. They asked what brought me to school psych, academic strengths/weaknesses, why I applied to the school, what kind of school psych I wanted to be. They also asked what my preferred learning environment was and whether I was settled on one type of interest (like, special ed only, or only wanting to do assessments. "No" seemed to be the correct answer, here.) And then she asked what my hobbies were. Hahaha. She was very nice! Ahh I'm so relieved to have one interview down!
  7. Hi Blue4, I also interviewed for Montana today and my interviewer said that in-person interviews would be March 7 and invites will go out this week! I haven't heard back from anywhere else
  8. I reuse the socks I wear with flats. I hate putting them in the laundry because I lose them so I just put them back in my drawers. I also will reuse socks if I only wore them for a few hours. I should probably note that I take my shoes off a lot so my feet air out throughout the day. I also do a smell test every time I rewear a piece of clothing... I may be gross, but I don't care.
  9. (For job interviews) you should only give relevant information. So education, brief employment, and relevant interests. I would assume it's the for grad school? I'd love to hear other opinions!
  10. I have a phone interview for the University of Montana!!!! Wooohooo! Does anyone have *non PhD* practice questions? I see a lot about research, etc, but I don't think I'll be asked that for the specialist program. Unless you think I will be?
  11. Shelf bracket
  12. Uhm. I didn't do that... until now. Your post has made me even more depressed. My GPA is apparently super lower (below 3.3) and I probably rank a 1 or 2 based on your criteria. I pictured my application being considered individually, like the unique snowflake that I pretend I am. Picturing it in a pile of perfection makes it worse. I wish I hadn't read this post.
  13. ...when you ask a school if they received all of your documents when they sent you a confirmation a few weeks ago. In my defense, I did search my emails but their original email didn't have the name of the school. It was only abbreviated in their email address! Their response to my second email was "Yes, as you were notified on x date, we have received all of your documents." Ugh.
  14. I'm planning a 6 week trip to Guatemala with my husband! I'd like to confidently add Spanish to my resume after all of these years of Spanish classes in high school and college We're doing this trip whether or not I get into grad school.
  15. This process is just mind blowing. I keep wanting to look up stats or information about the process but I feel so stuck! I don't even see others that applied to the schools that I applied to so I feel like I'm waiting all alone. I'm feeling so impatient haha!
  16. I couldn't find much information about GRE scores at all! I only found a few averages, which seemed to be above 50% for all sections. It's really hard to see how I stack up against others!
  17. I took my test September 28, asked them to send my scores to 4 schools immediately. My scores have been online for a while now, but none of my schools have reported receiving them. But I guess YMMV.
  18. Hi! I've submitted 4 applications for School Psychology specialist programs! I have the same questions as you do! To be honest, I went down the NASP approved list and looked at each school individually. There are some states that I completely ignored because I'm biased. The other ones, I looked to see if I'm qualified (for example, some require 15 psych classes - I don't have that!) I ended up applying to 4. I might find one more, but I don't want to apply just because. I want to actually like it I feel very much underqualified, but at least you have two years of preschool teaching!!
