School Psychology programs (EdS/PhD)

Guys! I heard back from my fourth school! I have a group interview with Lewis and Clark on March 13! Yeehaww! -
We have two cars (a 2005 Toyota and a 2011 Honda) insured through Geico for ~$2400/6 months. We do have an at-fault accident against us and we are both under 25. Being married did lower the cost significantly though. My husband was paying about $2400/6 months for a brand new (and subsequently totaled) 2013 Toyota before we were married. I will say that it does vary by location. Geico wanted to increase our rate by $300/6 months because we were moving to a new city.

So I'm realizing that this season is about over for many PhD applicants. Now it's just the specialist level left! I've definitely noticed that these boards have been slower these last few days. Just when my apps are picking up, too! -
This is my concern, too. I know interviews have to be coming up for this one program. Historically, the invites go out early February. Yet I haven't received notice either way. This particular app did have a Kiss of Death (sent the wrong SOP with another school's name) so I don't have high expectations... but it'd be nice to know.

From INFJ: "Situations which are charged with conflict may drive the normally peaceful INFJ into a state of agitation or charged anger. They may tend to internalize conflict into their bodies, and experience health problems when under a lot of stress." And "...this may result in an INFJ stubborness and tendency to ignore other people's opinions." And "INFJs are rarely at complete peace with themselves." And "The INFJ will either avoid such things, or else go to the other extreme and become enveloped in the details to the extent that they can no longer see the big picture. An INFJ who has gone the route of becoming meticulous about details may be highly critical of other individuals who are not." I mean, they aren't insanely awful, but they aren't roses and butterflies either.

I just reread my SOP... I addressed THREE faculty members as their respective Mr./Ms. Ughhh what was I thinking?!

Can you retake any of the classes that you didn't do well in? It might be worth it to take a full load over the summer or graduate later to change those grades/take extra psych classes. Many of the school psych programs have a minimum GPA of about 3.3. Some of those are psych GPA, some are cumulative, some are last 60 units. Have you calculated what the highest GPA could be if you ace your remaining classes? I recommend trying to retake classes, then taking more psych classes. I definitely recommend a gap year because it makes grad apps easier/less stressful. Also, MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS WITH PSYCH PROFESSORS. If you don't, you will regret it. Seriously. I didn't have a single professor that knew me well and grad schools want three letters of recommendation. Good luck!

The I applied to Masters programs 2014 thread.

Did anyone apply to Lewis and Clark (for school psych or similar?) I've heard back from my other three (three interviews in one week! Ahh!) but L&C was my number one so I'm still anxious about it. -
You know, I always try to avoid threads when you're in them. You're such a freaking party pooper. I like self reflection. It can be fun. This was fun. I enjoyed looking at the poll, and I like seeing how other people see themselves. Obviously people can influence their results, but that's also important in a different way. Anyway, I also enjoyed doing the love languages test. It really helped me realize how I show love to others and helped me appreciate the love they send my way. I highly recommend it to others! (iirc, it's much shorter than MB, too, lol)

I'm an INFJ, too!

I would wish that I end up on a path that keeps me happy, whatever that path may be.

Sooooo helpful, thank you! Dumb follow up question: is there a difference between pants / matching blazer and a suit? -

Ladies, what did you all wear (or are you planning to wear) to your interviews? I was reading the women's interview outfit thread, and it seemed to vary by field. -
Wow. I'm more confused than when I started. Any tips? I'm interviewing for school psych. I have a black suit and a cute green blouse to go with it. OR I have gray slacks that I could pair with a cardigan. OR I have a black pencil skirt but I'll be in the cold cold cold so I'm nervous about being...cold. I have those payless heels, or I could go get some flats because I'm in need of them anyway. What do you guys think? Gahh.

Have you checked the academic calendar online to see if they post the dates of orientation? Then you could go from there. -

Are you serious? How can they justify that? Ridiculous. -
My pugs are the PERFECT apartment and low key pets. They are both two and just want to be on the couch all day. Or, in your lap. Or cuddling with each other. Seriously. If you want an easy dog... Adopt a pug.

I have an interview with Central Washington for March 1! Woohoo! -
I gotchu. My undergrad's campus was exactly one mile so people would always be running around it. There were huge campaigns for healthier food and getting rid of snacks and sugar in the dining halls. There were health awareness months and running clubs. It didn't bother me too much, as I do like to stay kinda fit, but I can see how it would annoy someone who had other things to focus on. Especially when they got rid of our cookies For how I exercise: I walk around at work. I'm a substitute teacher so I don't stop walking around all day (desk to desk to desk). I also take walks at lunch and go out to the playground with the kids and play with them during PE. At my office job, I drank a lot of water so I had to get up and pee a lot. Haha!

Wait, what?!?
-
Tell me about it. My sister applied and was accepted to 5/5 schools within about 6 weeks. I'm going on six months. I wish more schools did rolling admissions!
-
So I applied in OCTOBER (I like to obsessively prepare?) and am just hearing back. Ughhh the wait is driving me insane.
-
Amazing! I've never met anyone with my same double major I have no other comments, sorry. Good luck!

Mine have been 3-4 weeks before.
