  1. Still waitlisted. I took a risk and called the program yesterday and was surprised when the Director answered the phone. I told her that if admitted, I would 1000000% go. I hope this helps....
  2. I don't think UConn has spring admissions. "The application deadline for the M.A. and Au.D. programs is February 1, 2015."
  3. I understand what you're going through. I only have rejections and 1 waitlist, but I'm still holding out hope that I'll get off of it. I researched all the schools that I would want to live in for 2 years (maybe more), cost of living, transportation availability, cost of program, practicum sites, possible research, holistic view of applicants, etc. I had a really great list of schools to apply this year, and hoped for at least 1 acceptance. I was shocked to find that I was rejected on the basis of limited space. (I contacted the school to ask for information as to why I was rejected and the only thing I was told "we have limited resources.") So what does this tell me? I am older applicant, as well, and work full time in an unrelated field since SLPA positions are limited in my area, good GPA, and average GRE (I, too, am a horrible test taker). I worked on my SOP for MONTHS, had great LOR writers, and work experience. At this point, I don't know what else I can do to strengthen my application. Any advice? TYIA!
  4. Still waiting as well. Very disappointed with my results this time. I had hoped for at least one acceptance, but I guess competition is so tough (and will get tougher).
  5. CSUEB sent an email last week that they're aware of the April 15th deadline and will send decisions no sooner than April 10th. They sent it out to undisclosed recipients, probably due to the high volume of inquiries regarding their application status. Also, if you look back at previous results, it looks like CSUEB tend to send their decisions around April 10/11. Hope this helps! I'm waiting on them too
  6. to update you on what happened, i received an email yesterday informing me that the admissions committee didn't review my application due to a system glitch. decisions were due by 3/31 and they wanted to let me know that they would send my decision by the end of the week. i wake up this morning to an email with a PDF attached (not even on a letterhead): REJECTED! i'm a little mad because i'm questioning how much time they spent reviewing my application. their website boasts how they review each applicant holistically and carefully. i wish there was an appeal process, but due to the competitive nature of the field i'm applying into, i don't think they would like to review all appealed applications.
  7. I'm still waiting on 2 schools. 1 waitlist, 4 rejections (2/4 mentioned that my application was strong but they couldn't admit more than they're allowed to). One of the schools I just received a rejection for was near the top of my list. They sent me an email yesterday that my application wasn't included in the review with the other applicants because of a glitch in their system and this morning they sent me a rejection email. I'm a little upset because if they found out yesterday that my application wasn't reviewed yet, but they sent a rejection this morning, then how long did they really spend on my application? This was one of the schools that viewed the applicant as a whole so now I have mixed feelings about this school. I'm not sure I could reapply there after what happened this time. It's really disheartening how competitive this field is! I wish they would expand their accepted pool of students so their acceptance rates are higher. For a field that's in need of SLPs, they should re-evaluate the admissions process and rates of acceptances in order to meet the needs of the communities. As for "what's next?", I only hope that my last 2 schools will save me because I honestly don't know what to do (I do have an SLPA license but I'm ready to make the transition from SLPA to SLP). I'm an older applicant and have "placed all of my eggs into this basket." Another year of being in this boat is something I'm not sure I can handle once more (I'm sure many of you will say "if this is truly what you want stick with it", and I agree but this is my second year applying).
  8. i emailed the director of program operations asking if letters would be sent to permanent addresses or mailing addresses. she replied back saying that my letter hasn't gone out. i've seen a ton of accepted folks and other folks who received the "we just mailed your decision!" email.... what does this mean?!?!?!!?!?!
  9. starting to feel insecure about myself and my application still haven't heard back from 3 schools, although i saw a few accepted results for one of them. second year applicant with a whole lot more experience and an assistant license related to the field.
  10. Check out this thread for other accepted students:
  11. Congratulations!!! Houston is a great city I hope I can revel in the enjoyment of acceptances soon. 2 rejections, 1 waitlist, 4 waiting
  12. Good luck (especially that UOP waitlist)! I have 1 waitlist and still 3 to hear from.
  13. I agree with all of what Chandru1 says. 1. Cost of living is cheap because it's out in the boonies. 2. It gets HOT, because it's inland. 3. CA is fun, but Stockton not so much. You COULD always drive up to Elk Grove ("South" Sacramento) and downtown Sac for things to do. Also, because you're close to Sacramento, that means you're close to Tahoe and Reno, and even Napa. Stockton to SF is approximately 1.5 hours so you're definitely close enough to visit SF on those longer weekends. I've been told that you have to dedicate a few years to schools or non-profits to qualify for loan forgiveness. Congrats on your UOP acceptance!
  14. Thank you for your input, @IntriguedStudent @holykrp! I forgot to mention that I have attended a couple of medical missions. I could use that as additional experience.
  15. I'm currently awaiting decisions from another Master's program, a really competitive professional health program, but I'm also setting my sights on getting an MPH later on in life. I'm basically preparing myself now so that I can build a great resume to get admitted to an MPH program. I have 2 years of research experience (genetic lab and cancer drug development private company), 2 years of rehab therapy (program I'm hoping to get admitted to), and currently working as an RA in public health on health services research/dissemination. I know it seems as though I'm all over the place but it took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to do. Eventually, I would like to get into global health/program implementation of rehab services in developing countries/organization and management of health services system (I just need to get through getting into a rigorous rehab Master's program). I have a BA in biology from a top public university, so I've taken all the math and science requirements. Any additional "pre-requisites" I should prepare for? Thanks in advance for your thoughts/input!
  16. Oops, forgot to reply to your quotes. I know from last year, acceptances go out first then waitlists. Waitlist emails will inform you where in the list you're situated- top third, middle, low third. Good luck!
