  1. Received the official letter in Interior BC today. Got the SSHRC fellowship ($20k/year) for four years. Score of 13.7/20.
  2. Our grad program emailed out to faculty supervisors and applicants who were successful, so I know I received one, but don't know which one yet. Over in BC, suspect I'll be waiting until closer to the end of the week...
  3. That works if you get it right away, but if you are waitlisted then often your answer is due before you really know whether you are getting it or not! Worth a try though.
  4. Yeah, the new system is weird. It used to be that you were ranked and either got it or didn't, and could take to whatever school you wanted. The schools rank the funding applications completely separately from the actual grad school position applications. Which is how you end up with funding and no position. Ranked well and could pull in money, but the professor I applied with didn't get first dibs on accepting a student that year.
  5. Unfortunately yes, you can get the SSHRC and not get a position at the school. Two years ago I received the SSHRC at both Carleton and University of Saskatchewan, but didn't secure a spot. So had to turn it down! Thankfully I received one at the school I did get accepted at
  6. Decision letters are in. No luck for me this go - hope some of you are getting it!
  7. Good luck today everyone! I am sure we are all enjoying the life of mad refreshing the page.
  8. Sooooo close! Do they send an email out that day when results are out, or do you just stalk the page? First timer here.
  9. This wait is just horrendous . Almost there!
  10. Just received the official email from Research Net saying that it moved forward to Vanier! Here's to the waiting process.
  11. That's nice your school actually informs you! I was damn thankful my supervisor told me, as grad studies had told me I had to wait until final results to find out anything. And I did not notice the font. Although I submitted awhile ago at the end of August, so my memory may just suck.
  12. You would probably have to ask your supervisor - the institutions won't directly tell you. I only know because my supervisor was informed one of the letters needed a tweak before heading to Ottawa.
  13. My supervisor informed me on Tuesday that I was selected for the national competition!
  14. I am in the waiting process too. For my school it goes through my campus (UBC-O), then on to the large campus (UBC-V), and then on to Ottawa. I successfully made it to UBC-V, and find out in January whether it goes national. Fingers crossed for us all!
  15. I was in the middle of a conference call at 9 pm, and just opened my email and had a single line from my POI stating that I was recommended for admission and would be hearing back about my GTA offer soon. Exciting!
  16. Also waiting to hear from Ryerson after multiple interviews! From what I know they haven't put out official decisions yet. Current grad student says later in March probably.
  17. Definitely program specific. 4/5 Clinical Psychology programs I applied to (in Canada) required it.
  18. In my Ryerson application it specifically asked if I wanted to be considered, and I had to check it off. As long as you did that they will consider you from what I know (which is very limited knowledge). However, at Carleton I had to write a little proposal...so you need to check with each of the school's requirements to really get an answer. Hope that helps!
  19. Just happened to me this week. My nose started pouring blood a few minutes before a Skype interview for one of my schools. Anxiety of the interview didn't help with the blood flow. Ugh.
  20. Happening in New Orleans next month! Looks like they have some great topics being discussed, and might be a chance to mingle with the professors prior to final decisions being made. Anyone else attending?
  21. I agree. I applied at other schools in Canada because only those schools had professors working on my topic of interest.
  22. Hi there. I received my interview email from Ryerson on Monday of last week, and I know some other people who have as well.
  23. Clinical is really the best route. I'm forensic oriented and did a forensic specialization during undergrad. I only applied to 5 schools in Canada because they were really the only ones with forensic profs doing what I'm interested in. I'm assuming there are more options in the states, but it seems like a pretty limited field in terms of graduate options.
  24. I got my email this morning!! Woohoo, top choice.
