  1. If I felt like I was a lock at my top choice, I definitely would have only applied to one school.
  2. I hope they don't look too much into the facial hair thing, especially since I was rocking the Colonel Sanders look to some of my interviews. But as far as your friend goes, he can wear what he wants, he's the CEO :-). Anyway, best of luck to you!
  3. I've actually gotten the opposite feeling. Most people I have talked to that have applied to programs in counselor education seem to be aiming at mental health counseling, or higher ed. But either way, best of luck to you!
  4. One school told me a week after I interviewed, and the other told me two to three weeks. So far, I'm within both time frames, but the suspense is driving me nuts! Oh yeah, and a few other schools that I applied to haven't hit their admissions deadlines yet, so who knows how that will go.
  5. Glad to hear it!
  6. What if they're from the same school, applying to the same program, but they both had different majors and graduated in different years?
  7. Its nice to hear a positive story on here! Congrats!
  8. Hermes, I hope that in a few weeks I know where I'm going, and I hope that I never have to go through this process again!
  9. I really wanted to know something by the end of February too, but alas, no word from anyone about anything! Hopefully March will be better!
  10. Garment District
  11. I was just wondering if anyone else thought they did. I like to think that they don't, because if I were on an admissions committee, I wouldn't want to, it would just make me feel bad about the whole process.
  12. An ulcer forming from stress.
  13. Great GPA: 3.86 (Overall), 3.97 in one major and 3.93 in the other. 4.0 GPA my last three semesters in college. Very good, possibly great LORs. Elected to the SGA for two terms. Officer in an academic club Great internship with the government Member of Phi Beta Kappa I genuinely care about the my chosen field, and all I need is a degree to pursue it. Work experience and volunteer experience working with high school and middle school students. I hope that the admissions committees think this way too!
  14. I'll probably get to set a record for most jobs applied for without getting an interview. Oh, and I hear that Busch Light is quite tasty, which is good because my financial situation will deteriorate to the point where I have to quit drinking Natural Light.
  15. I don't. It just stresses me out too much, and I'm already stressed out enough with work, bills, coaching, and checking my email once an hour hoping to hear from different schools. I thought waiting for admission into undergrad programs as a HS senior was awful, but this is way, way worse!
  16. Hello all, I recently attended an interview session for an M.Ed. degree. While at the event, I couldn't help but notice that I was one of approximately five guys (out of 60 total candidates) there. Furthermore, I was one of two men interviewing for my specialty (out of like 15 or so). Also, this particular field in the "real world" is dominated by females. So, in terms of being admitted, could being a guy actually help me out? Let it be known, I'm not trying to sound sexist or anything like that, I'm just trying to ease my nerves, because I've still got 2-3 weeks to hear a decision )-:. As always, any responses will be appreciated.
  17. I have been invited to interview at the University of Florida and at Clemson for their Master of Education in counselor education, with a focus in school counseling (that is a mouth full!). I'm still waiting to here back from VCU. As far as UF and Clemson go, does anyone know what to expect during the interview? Does anyone happen to know the percentage of people who go from the interview to being admitted? Also, has anyone else applied to these schools?
  18. Eight or nine, all for a Master of Education.
  19. As someone who took a year off (and is regretting it more and more everyday), I think you should at least apply to graduate school, and if you get in somewhere you like, go. If not, do your best to find a job that you'll like. Anyway, good luck!
  20. Is anyone on this board applying to graduate school for Counselor Education, specifically with a focus in School Counseling? If so feel free to respond!
  21. Thanks for the quick response. Might I just say that people that post on this website are far more polite than those on other grad school sites (i.e. College Confidential).
  22. Before I graduated from college a few months ago, I asked three of my favorite professors if they could write me good letters of recommendation, and they all said that they would. At the time, I had planned on attending graduate school to obtain an MPA or an MPP. Since then I have had a pretty big change of heart about what I want to do with my life... I want to become a high school guidance counselor, and I am hoping to start applying to various programs in the coming months. I guess my question is this: Could my change in academic/career interests change their willingness to write me a LOR? I know its just some dumb worrying on my part, especially since they already said they would be happy to write me letters, but I just wanted to get some opinions from others in the forum.
  23. I am planning on taking the computer version of the GRE in early to mid-October, and I have a question. One of the programs I am applying to says that their application deadline is December 9, which is fine because I plan on having my application in the day I take my GRE's. However, the department website says to allow 8-13 weeks (perhaps they mean if you took the paper-based test?) for scores to be processed and to arrive at the University of Florida. This seemed a little off to me since the ETS website says that it only takes 10-15 days for official GRE scores to arrive at your home and the schools you selected. So I guess the big question is this... which number should I believe: 8-13 WEEKS or 10-15 DAYS???
  24. MissMolly77, You sure are right... it seemed like a lot of my friends who had second thoughts about law school went on ahead and applied anyway. I just wasn't willing to shell out $100,000+... anyways, good luck!
