  1. Stay positive! I got rejected from SDSU in the beginning of February, so basically before people even got acceptance notifications. haha. So maybe it's a good sign and they're actually taking longer to accept people. I try not to read into things like that too much since we have no idea of what their admission process really looks like. And if SJSU is your top choice you can always consider appealing the decision if you get rejected. I wrote Sac State an email after my rejection letter and someone from the department actually got back to me and wanted to set up an appointment to meet with me next week. Not sure what this is all about but there may still be hope so hang in there!
  2. Hi Regina, I was accepted at SJSU on 3/27 via email.
  3. Thank you Chandru! I actually lived there a few years ago but I know rent has increased exponentially in the south bay since then so I'm not very optimistic that I'll find something affordable unless I room mate with someone.
  4. That's interesting. I got my rejections via e-mail and my waitlist notification via mail. So it could be a good sign. Just remain positive, I'm sure it will work out in your favor :-)
  5. Hi everyone, I hope everyone is hanging in there for those who are still anxiously awaiting responses!!! This process was super tedious and nerve-wracking for sure. I am wondering if anyone here is planning on attending San Jose State this fall. It's my only acceptance (yay) but it means I will have to move I'm so nervous because I don't know a single soul there and it would be awesome to find other speechies who are maybe looking for roommates.
  6. Just got accepted to SJSU. Excited but it's not my top choice. Most likely I'll be declining their offer. Hopefully this means that Sac State will be sending admission decisions soon too
  7. Anyone here applying to CSUS? I haven't heard anything from CSUS, SFSU or SJSU.
  8. It's been a while since I posted because I have to admit this forum makes me even more nervous than just waiting but I just can't seem to stay away.. I was invited to SFSU for an interview on Monday, but still waiting to hear back from CSUS. Anybody else applying to these schools?
  9. Hi! I'm wondering if anyone else has plans to apply to CSUS (Sacramento) for Fall 2015. I'm really anxious about their tedious application requirements. On top of a really lengthy and complex essay response they want a 10min video as well. Has anybody had any experience with this before? And if so, how did you go about it? -Kat
  10. Hi! This is taken straight from their website: Degree Requirements The program leading to the M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology requires completion of at least 74 quarter units of credit with grades of "B" (3.0) or better from the courses listed below. The Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential track prepares a student to apply for California's Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential. It is 78 units and requires the completion of the M.S. degree, EPSY 5021 Introduction to Educating all Students in Diverse Classrooms (4), and fulfillment of the State of California's Basic Skills Requirement. The work must be completed within five calendar years after admission to the program. At least 63 units must be completed in residence. 11. Asemoooo, You're right. CSUEB doesn't require it. I'm happy to hear you plan on attending there! It's a great school. Just be aware that they don't offer a great deal of night classes and mostly will have a set course schedule of classes smack right in the middle of the day which makes it nearly impossible to work. The faculty is really knowledgable though and cohorts are very small and supporting of one another. Also, the school is on a quarter calendar schedule which is awesome if you work well under pressure and it feels like time flies by. But if not, it can be pretty stressful. I remember going over the syllabus in the first week and having a midterm scheduled for that following week already!!! Midterm? Not really. So be prepared to study, study, study ALL THE TIME for three months straight. Ps: And also, avoid moving to Hayward if you can. It's not the best city to live in, in the bay area.
  12. Thanks! I'm praying for SDSU!!! The other schools do not require the GRE for acceptance. I'm currently attending Cal State east bay and taking classes concurrently with graduate students who had other majors. So while we are all taking the same courses together, the grad students are taking care of their pre-requ's of their first yr in their Master's program and the undergrads are completing their bachelor in the major. None of them have taken the GRE. So really, I'm only taking it for SDSU and CSUS.
  13. Hi! I'm super excited to be part of this thread! I've been reading through the old posts from last year's cycle and can't wait to finally exchange info about this upcoming admission cycle! I'm currently studying for the GRE - probably not as rigorously as I should be- but trying to but since I payed a good amount of money to simply register I will try my best! I'm taking it at the end of September and hoping to apply to SDSU by beginning of October. Their admission for Fall 2014 opens really early. Anyways, here's a run-down of some of my stats: 1. Undergrad Senior at Cal State East Bay majoring in Speech-language pathology so I'll be entering the Master's program as a 2 year applicant 2. Undergrad GPA of 3.4, Major GPA at 3.8 3. Accepted as a research fellow for the 2013-2014 year. Research is about children using Augmentative and Alternative communication devices and the efficacy of these on language opportunities in their environment. 4. My experience in the field includes 7yrs as a behavioral therapist for children diagnosed on the Autism spectrum including management experience. This includes collaboration with SLP's on the child's case. I'm hoping my GPA isn't too bad considering some of the other facts. I'm planning on applying to: SDSU SJSU SFSU CSUEB (east bay) - require GRE CSUS (Sac state) - require GRE
