  1. Hi all, For those who have already written their SOPs / are in the process of writing them, what resources have you found most helpful to leverage? IE. Any good websites or books of samples, tips, advice from adcoms? Thanks!
  2. C Chattra, it seems that for many graduate programs in education, they emphasize a holistic view of the applicant and have stressed that the SOP is most important. I believe you can also check Harvard GSE's Class of 2012 profile for their Average GRE scores, for a good idea if those scores fall within the average range.
  3. Hi Kismetcapitan, I was doing a search on SOPs and chanced upon this thread -- although it is several years old now, just out of curiosity -- which format did you end up settling on? The more florid, or the "dry", or an amalgamation? Looking to write my SOP now to Grad programs in Education; any tips or lessons learned from your experiences would be immensely appreciated! Thanks!
  4. Some schools ask for the applicant to sign a waiver of confidentiality relinquishing our rights to access the letters. What is this? Are we expected to sign it, does it make a difference one way or another, is one way more advisable? Thank you!
  5. Thanks for everyone's responses !
  6. Hi, Don't know how much insight I can offer, but my sister went to WashU for her undergrad and of all the times I've visited, it was a wonderful school. Faculty and staff seem wonderfully nurturing, campus is amazing and new and undergrad students were very happy. This might not be applicable to your specific MAT program or grad school at all, but thought I'd chip in my 2 cents.
  7. Please help! - Doesn't seem like there are many interested in / have experience with Stanford GSE? I would appreciate any and all sorts of conversation!
  8. Hi all, I am in the process of asking my professors and employers for Letter of Recs. While academic professors may be more familiar with what makes a strong LOR and how to write one, employers may need a little more guidance. I am having a touchbase with my previous employer regarding my LORs and during then, I want to provide a few pointers to guide him along on what he should include if he wants to recommend me effectively. To summarize, 1) What are a few key pointers to discuss with them to include that makes a strong LOR? What do schools specifically look for in a LOR? 2) What could or should I provide for him (a resume? SOP?) to help him be the most effective? Thank you for your help in advance!
  9. Hi all! I'm looking to apply to several Master's programs in Education, but am surprised to see relatively little comments on Stanford GSE, especially their Master programs. Can anyone tell me more about the following, including the strength of the program relative to similar programs in other schools? Thank you! 1) Learning, Design and Technology 2) Policy, Org, and Leadership Studies 3) International Comparative Education I have seen comments here and there on their PhD counterparts, but does anyone know much about the Master's or is it fairly similar? Some other questions I have are: - How much work experience in the field is necessary to be a successful candidate or student in the program? - Strength of faculty - Are the programs more geared towards certain career paths than other similiar programs in the field? - If any past applicants are willing to share experience/background/stories, that would also be great Thank you for any and all insights any could provide on the above programs, or Stanford GSE in general !
