I received a rejection letter via snail mail last week for Digital + Media, so I'm sure responses are coming soon. Bobbie

Hey there, I can tell you from my experience if you don't get an email or phone call it means rejection. My status changed as well and I called them and got the same response. Emailed the dept and they told me I was rejected... Received the official rejection in the mail later that day.

Not sure just got my rejection today.

Johns Hopkins MA in Communications?
tabbykiki replied to oldhousejunkie's topic in Communication and Public Relation Forum
Hmmm... I know you said you were looking for programs without the GRE requirement but I'm not sure if you'll find anything good. I applied to 7 MFA programs mainly because I didn't want to take the GRE. I ended up applying to the University of Florida's MA in Mass Communications (Social Media) program (thank goodness) even though it had the GRE requirement. I didn't do the greatest on the GRE, but I did get accepted to the program. They are mostly concerned that you have 2-3 years of professional communications experience (it's a requirement). I absolutely fell in love with the program after speaking with my enrollment advisor and doing some research. When I got accepted to the program, I quickly confirmed my decision to attend even though I haven't heard back from the majority of the MFA programs I applied to. It's an excellent program (100% online), the communications school at UF is nationally ranked and they do have rolling admissions. It's worth considering this program. I know this thread is super old, but wanted to chime in. I'm a social media strategist professionally and just got accepted to the University of Florida's MA in Mass Communications with a specialization in social media program which is completely online. U of Florida is an amazing school and I've never been so excited in my life. Here's a link to the program: http://communicationsdegree.jou.ufl.edu/social-media/

I have not yet heard anything. I will likely email them this weekend and tell them I accepted another offer. I have a feeling ND will be one of the last schools to go over apps. I don't know if you have visited ND's campus or not, but I grew up in northern Indiana. It is the most beautiful campus I have ever seen. We go down once a year for a football game and I just love it there. If you are lucky enough to gain admission, DO NOT PASS IT UP - their reputation as a top notch school is known by all. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm a Michiganer. Sooooooo over winter and potholes! LOL I just wanted to say that sometimes going for a MFA doesn't make the most sense. I can only speak for my personal experience. I was really eyeing the MFA since it is a terminal degree. I'm a web designer / media strategist with a big background in computer design. There are some wonderful programs for MFAs in these fields but they are few and far between. When I got accepted to UF I realized that it was a perfect fit for me. There was a tiny bit of me hanging on to wanting that terminal degree but the fit is more important, and the fact that the school was amazing to work with throughout the application process and now, beyond. I cannot say that of the other schools I applied to. So, the moral of the story is, if you are a designer like me, look at some other options that may fit better even if it's a MA vs. a MFA. I know most on this thread/board aren't computer designers, but I really feel compelled to type this out. Best of luck everyone, I'll keep checking in to see how everyone is fairing!

I just got accepted to the University of Florida for their Mass Communications program, which I accepted. It was the only school that I applied to for a MA instead of an MFA. And, I couldn't be more pleased to attend. They have by far been the single most responsive, professional and helpful school out of all that I have applied to - and that matters to me. Incredibly excited, and wished I would have saved my application money on the MFA degree programs and went straight for the MA because it fits me better. Best of luck to everyone!

Haven't seen anyone else mention applying to the University of Baltimore's Integrated Design MFA program, but I just got an email from them in case anyone has applied: "Applications for the MFA program will likely be reviewed around the beginning of April. You are welcome to check back about your application status around that time."

Haven't heard from ND at all. In my trusty little spreadsheet I have that their notification date is 4/10. I don't remember where I got that... May have been from their website. What specialty did you apply for?

A no from VCU. Emailed the dept for an answer. It's funny because I see a lot of people in threads past saying how hard rejection is and perhaps it was better not knowing. Not me. I'd rather know. And rejection doesn't really sting on this. Wasn't meant to go there, and I'm okay with that.

Yeah I was wondering this as well. I haven't heard anything and their website says applicants will be notified by Mar 3. (At least for Vis Comm.)

Hang in there, you could still get in. I see in your signature that it is marked as rejected. Did you end up getting a rejection after being waitlisted? Did they email or mail this to you? I'm still waiting to hear something.
