Has anyone heard anything from Michigan State? I applied to their Ecological/Community program, but I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has heard from them. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think they have a way to check your application status

I started off with a list of 20 PhD programs and a master's program. My "final" list had 8 PhD + 1 MA. By the time I actually applied, I was down to 4 PhDs and decided not to apply to the MA program. I really felt like the schools I ended up dropping weren't a great fit. They may have been good, but certainly not great. My first notification from a program was a rejection, and at that moment I really felt like I should have kept the MA in the mix. I still haven't heard back from the other schools, though I'm certain I'm either rejected or wait listed at Vanderbilt, but I don't know...I mean, why spend money to attend a program if it isn't going to be a good fit. On the other hand, maybe I've been too specific and too focused with my research interests, and maybe it's going to cost me in the long run...

I had this exact same thing happen, only they were missing all of my transcripts! Depending on how many applicants there are, your transcripts just might not be entered in the system yet. I emailed the academic advisor of the school I was applying to and asked. If they're done uploading transcripts, explain that you sent them earlier and ask if you can resend it. It's totally acceptable to email whoever is in charge of the graduate applications and explain the problem to them.

I had a school which as of this morning said they still hadn't received my transcripts. I was (obviously) worried because this is my top school and I didn't want to be out of the running because someone lost my transcripts or I had inadvertently mixed up the address or something. Apparently my compulsive website checking has paid off, and now they have my transcripts! That took quite the load off...now I only have to worry about if they'll accept me or not

Just heard back from Wayne State...reeeeeeejecteddddddd... First news of the season too. Shoot.

I was introduced to Moleskine notebooks this last year, and now I won't use anything else. I'm also partial to RSVP Fine pens with black ink ONLY! If I'm using notecards, I like the neon ones that are blank on one side and lined on the other. When I've made up a study guide, I'll highlight the material I already know and memorize the rest until the entire page is highlighted. I don't care about color or anything (except blues or greens, those are weird). I also have to be at a Starbucks with an iced espresso drink of some sort. I need that background noise, but I will occasionally put in some headphones if I'm sitting next to a Chatty Cathy If I'm at home, I'll clean the house, bake, and generally do everything except paper writing and studying!

My husband did this a few years back...took a charged wire to the balls and dropped I was just laid-off from my job, so I really have nothing to do besides sit around all day with my animals and worry about grad school acceptances. I'm going to start a certificate in Grant Writing and maybe look for another job. The job market sucks here, and all I've seen on craigslist are ads for "mature, adult models." No thanks.

I applied to the Community Research and Action program. No news yet!

I emailed my POI at my top choice school and let her know that I sent my application in. I sort of had a phone interview with her earlier in the year though, so my email was more of a follow-up and a "thanks again for taking the time to speak with me" email. I think it really depends on how much contact you've had with them throughout the application process.

Yeah, I'm not expecting anything until mid to late January. This is driving me insane. I just want to know!

I just submitted my application for my favorite program! If I knew it would help, I'd crawl all the way to the school and worship the admissions committee until they accepted me...but I guess now I'm just stuck playing the waiting game. I want it to be over already! This is actually the first year that I'd be fine skipping the Christmas holiday just to get into 2014 a wee bit earlier.

Yeah, I'm a first timer too. I have no clue, but I did look up my schools/programs on the results search portion of GC. Some of my schools sent out notifications in January, but most were in February. Just for fun and to kill the time, I've been looking up Ph.D. regalia from each school I applied to. So far my favorite school also has the best looking gown/hoods/tams...I'm gonna look so fabulous when I graduate a million years from now

Vanderbilt University! They don't have application fees and they don't require official transcripts until after you've been accepted to your school. As someone who has 5 different schools to get transcripts from, I've saved almost $50, plus whatever they didn't charge me for app fees. Anyone else have any schools they want to give a shout out to?

First application submitted!!! Now I just need my transcripts to get there on time, and hope my professors to complete my recommendations by the end of the month. It feels so good to have one done!

Hello! I'm applying to social, applied social, and community psychology programs...I take the GRE at the end of this month. Would have done it sooner but my math skills are lacking...I feel like I need to go apologize to my 9th grade math teacher for not doing my homework back then!
