  1. Hey! Anyone on here apply for the Applied Social/Community Psych program at Portland State and get the phone interview? If so, would you care to PM me your POI?
  2. If you want to continue a line of communication (just to keep yourself on their radar) you can google questions to ask grad advisors. See if any of the questions apply to your situation or even make you think of new questions to ask. I wouldn't ask something pointless that's clearly stated on their website, but I'm sure you'll find something you can ask. It's a nice way to remain in contact and show your interest in the program.
  3. Better question is what HAVEN'T I been stress eating. Tonight's munchtastic voyage featured a s'mores pizza from Papa Murphy's.
  4. I got a notification that someone looked at my Academia.edu page. Too bad I don't have anything on there!
  5. Congrats to those of you with the Texas A&M follow ups! Would either one of you care to share your POIs?
  6. I didn't have a city listed on the inital page I clicked on. There was just a generic "someone from somewhere in the united states viewed your page" thing going on, but I clicked on something that finally listed the city. I'm pretty pleased with what I saw, too!
  7. Also, if the other joint women's programs are any indication...http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=michigan+women%27s&t=a&o= Edited to add: I just noticed that if you search "ann arbor psychology" the results for UM come up a little better. From what I see there, in 2012 they let those rejected know at the end of January via email, and in 2011 they were notified by letter at the end of January/beginning of February.
  8. I applied to that program too! I haven't heard a thing yet, but I'm still crossing my fingers! Also, when you say you applied to the regular social psych program too, did you apply to the actual social program or personality and social contexts?
  9. Right before my first big app deadline I was in a car crash that totaled my car. I couldn't really leave the couch for a bit so I binged watched NCIS. Then three weeks after that my husband was in an accident where we totaled the rental car from my crash...so two months, two crashes, and here we are 11 seasons later...
  10. Congrats to whomever received the MSU Eco-Community psych interview! Care to PM me your POI?
  11. Anyone want to claim the interview request from the social program at UIC? I'd love to know your POI if you're willing to share
  12. Congrats! Which program area? Social or Personality and Social Contexts?
  13. It shouldn't really affect anything. When you're accepted to a school, just let the registrar's office know that you have a new name that you're signing up under and that should be that. Depending on the school you may have to provide a copy of your marriage license along with a name change form. If you're still applying to schools (which it doesn't seem like you are), there's a box on the applications where you can list your maiden name. That's what I've been using Congrats on the marriage! I highly recommend courthouse marriages. Granted, I'm an eloped military spouse so everything was kind of on the fly Changing names is a minor pain in the ass, but seems to be an oddly fluid process. I still have my debit card in my maiden name, and there haven't been any problems with that. You could really take as long as you need. Changing my Social Security card and driver's license was the worst only because of the wait times in the office. Other than that, there's never been any hassle!
  14. Not for any of my I/O programs! I did get an interview invitation for a social psych program though. I hate going through the results page and seeing all the clinical invites though. Looks like someone received an invite to interview at Texas A&M, and my heart skipped a beat until I saw it was for the clinical track.
  15. Merry Christmas Eve, all! Now get off these forums and go enjoy your family
  16. I think Emergen-ZZZ and massive amounts of ibuprofen are what got me through the aftermath of my car crash right before Thanksgiving. Airbags hurt, man Light sleeping is the worst, too. This application season has seen far too many nights of sleep where I'm pretty certain I've just laid there with my eyes closed. It's almost like my body is asleep, but my mind thinks all through the night.
  17. For me, sleepless nights usually happen for one of two reasons: 1) I'm worried about something and can't sleep, or 2) At some point I messed up my sleep cycle by staying up too late and then can't get back on a good cycle. For both of these, I've found that Emergen-ZZZ (Emergen-C with melatonin) helps a lot. It tastes better than regular Emergen-C, and I can drink a glass at night and be out like a light in 30 minutes no matter what is on my mind. The berry flavor is great, and the added vitamin C is always nice
  18. Here, here! Alcohol and cats are a cure-all. Browsing the forums and watching Netflix have been taking up a lot of time this week!
  19. Congrats to whomever received the acceptance from UMich today! Care to clarify which program you've been accepted to?
  20. Did anyone else apply to Florida International University? I just noticed that there were two different addresses listed for where to send transcripts, and it looks as though they haven't recieved my transcripts yet. At the very least they aren't in the system. Anyone else have the same problem?
  21. Almost done! Just two more with January deadlines, and a master's program with a February deadline. It would be amazing if I could secure a PhD spot before spending money on that master's app.
  22. I kept it to a nice single spaced page, but yeah...561 words. Any less and it sounded like crap. It'll take them an extra six seconds to read
