  1. I broke my essay down into sections. 1. experience with people with disabilites 2. with people of low SES 3. people of different cultures i explained where i gained this experience at, and what i learned from it, and gave an example for each one.
  2. Is it bad to start off my personal statement with a quote?
  3. In writing my personal statement, one the questions asks to describe my capacity with diverse populations. I am not sure if they want me to actually tell stories of situations I was in with diverse populations, or lean more towards just state the population i gained experienced with, and what i learned from it? Help please!
  4. You are going there now? My GPA is a 3.2. & I have about 2 years of experience in the field. What do you think are my chances of getting in?
  5. Hello, some schools such as SDSU and Sacramento State require the GRE to be taken. They say they only review the analytical writing portion. I received my score and i got a 4.0 on it. I wanted to know Is this an acceptable score?
  6. Good luck to you! I am still writing my Personal statements!
  7. Did you write the statement of purpose that was required by CSU Mentor application?
  8. you already finished everything?
  9. google sop samples
  10. ok i will thanks
  11. Yes, I am referring to the application on CSU Mentor. There is a section on there that states "Write a brief statement (500 words/3500 characters or less including punctuation, but not spaces) describing your reason(s) for pursuing graduate or postbaccalaureate study. Include any additional information concerning your preparation that is pertinent to the objective specified. You may also send a resume and/or letters of reference if required by department. " And theres also a section thats a part of the MSW application that states "The Personal Statement must be written by you without the use of an editor. It should be typed, double-spaced, 12 pt. font, and 4-6 pages in length. Your Personal Statement must address each of the questions and areas of discussion below. (IMPORTANT NOTE: In answering these questions, make sure not to use names or information that might violate the confidentiality of the individuals you decide to use in your descriptions.)" So, they have different instructions
  12. If it's the same thing then why do some schools, (San Diego State, CSU Long beach, CSU San Jose etc.) both require a personal statement and a statement of purpose?
  13. statement of purpose and personal statement are two separate things
  14. They look at statement of purpose too dont they?
  15. CSU LB is more competitive than San Diego State?
  16. It says you live in long beach? How is it, I really want to co to CSU Long Beach.
  17. I'm not one to tell someone they don't have a chance at anything but I like to be honest. Most MSW programs really do value experience in the field of social work. I don't think you have enough, I think at least a couple years under your belt would be better. Your GPA is pretty good though. They also require some classes, and I know Biology & Stats are some of them; you have stats, but make sure you meet those requirements. I think if you do decide to apply, definitely include in your statement of purpose the reasoning behind switching and what influenced your decision.
  18. Do you know if i can count a job I just got this month as experience on my application?
  19. Yes, my reach schools are SDSU, CSULB, & my safety schools are CSU CHICO, SACRAMENTO, & SAN JOSE. Although like you said I feel like all of them are reach schools for me, i just think SDSU & CSULB are more competitive. My gpa is average and i barely have 2 years experience
  20. I am writing my SOP, this is very hard! i re did it twice already!
  21. Thanks! Isn't the personal statement an opportunity to showcase your skills and abilities? It asks questions such as describe your experience working with diverse populations, and describe experiences working in a low income community that you feel will enhance your ability to succeed in the MSW program.
  22. For the statement of purpose, I wrote about how I was going to apply last year but didn't, and gave reasons as to why I didn't. Also, I wrote reasons as to why I feel like im ready to apply now, and added in a personal experience that contributed to my decision. Do you think that is good?
  23. Hello everyone for FALL 2015 MSW Program, I am applying to CSU Long beach, Chico, Sacramento, San Diego, & San Jose. Are any of you applying to these?
