  1. Congrats guys! Giving up funding to go to a higher ranked school is a tough choice, and if you are from out of state it's even more difficult. Remember that ranking isn't everything and a lower ranked school might be a better fit for you, it all depends on what you personally are looking for in a program. You can always hold out and hope that the 2 with funding got an offer to thier #1 choice and you get bumped up the list!
  2. Great, Heartland has the shuttle that will bring you to the hospital and you don't have to worry about parking! I will be very disappointed if Shawn decides to go with something else, becuase they are letting us eat the leftovers Dr. Bentler is great, I was actually listening to her while reviewing for an exam I have tomorrow.
  3. I am, and I can tell you the plan for lunch as of Tuesday was Panera. Mmmmm The winter weather warning was cancelled a few hours ago, so by the time you get here it should be mostly cleaned up. Where are you planning on staying? If you have any last minute questions about Iowa feel free to ask.
  4. Good Luck to those candiates interviewing at University of Iowa on Friday! Pack your snow boots, take a deep breath, and relax!
  5. Wisconsin- Does not interview U of Arizonal - Does not interview Rush - Does not interview
  6. Sour Cream and Onion chips ON my PB&J
  7. I will be @ U of Iowa for my AuD, and was a U of Iowa undergrad for the past 2 years.
  8. I had heard that for undergraduates there was a huge increase, that's why I was curious. How do you know how many applicants there were? Did you ask or did they supply that information in your acceptance.
  9. Whoo hoo! I wonder if Colorado had more applications than usual after the legalization of marijuana?
  10. Cool, we had a guest speaker in my Hearing Science class that has bi-laterals. From what I remember that was pretty much what she said; that it started out mostly noise but her brain figured it out and they worked together.
  11. the galaxy 2 10.1 and galaxy note 10.1 are different devices. The note has the S-pen for taking notes, its a stylus with a button that slides inside the tablet.
  12. I've made mine, University of Iowa.
  13. That's what I was thinking! It would be pretty cool to have that as a wall in your study. Unfortunately I am a poor college student who rents and can't paint my walls.
  14. You can also get dry-erase board paint and apply it directly to the wall. I'm not sure if you can make it different colors or not. They also make metallic paint to make any surface ready for magnets. It would be neat to make your own wall that was both magnetic and dry-erase.
  15. I have yet to hear from University of Akron (NOAC).
  16. There was actually a petition on "We the People" do get JB deported so you had to take him back.
  17. There are new graduate housing apartments going up that are very nice; but very pricey. Avoid the companies: Apartments Downtown, Apartments Near Campus. There are several other agencies that have rentals depending on the size and location you are looking for. Lucky for you, most of these companies start their leases in August.
  18. First off, congrats to your daughter for being able to make choices, not everyone gets that opportunity. CSD grad programs are really competitive. US News does the rankings; and Western Michigan is #35. You didn't say which campus of UW she was accepted so WM could be better or worse depending on the campus. Although WM sounds like the lowest ranked school, she was accepted to really look at how many program rankings there are. SLP rankings go up to 229 (compare that to AuD in which the rankings go up to 74). So top 50 is still really good. Are you going to be paying for this or is she? In my opinion, go with the most financially responsible choice. An SLP isn't making 6 figures. Do you really want to take out tons of personal loans to pay for school? I think going into a ton of debt for a marginally better ranked program is unwise. You should also read up on how the rankings are determined. It is peer review so rather arbitrary.
  19. So, when I actually told a school I was going (Iowa) my portal was updated to show I was admitted. The department didn't tell graduate admission I was admitted until I accepted their offer.
  20. I'm struggling with the same thing. Higher ranked school without funding and lots of loans or lower ranked school that will save me a lot of money. I think I need to break down and budget out the potential costs over the next 4 years and see what it really looks like. The lower ranked school is also in an area with much cheaper cost of living. Don't forget to look at prices of apartments when making this decision!
  21. You aren't doing so bad yourself! I just want all the final decisions so I can chose where I want to go the most.
  22. I have a top 3 rather than a top overall. I like them for different reasons, I should find out my status at Iowa next week.
